I've read some threads where people have drilled out a portion of the connector between the door and cab to run the speaker wire through.

My question is do all 3rd gen rams have room to drill holes for the speaker wire and if I decide to use the factory wire and just splice the factory wire from the inside of the cab where can I find these wires (in the kickpanel?) and does anyone know the wire colors for the left and right front speakers?

Thanks

I didn't drill mine I ran it between the connector and the rubber piece that seals it. This was on an 05. This was actually one of the easier installs that i have done. Usually there is some electrical tape halfway down the boot that is a pain to get past.

When you ran the wire between the connector and the boot did you have a problem reconnecting the boot or connector to the cab?

I cut a little hole in the rubber the ran the wire through the rubber boot and drilled a little hole to run the wire through. It was a pain but I'm huge on hiding wires.

Check out the the thread here. It has 08 wire colors and a website where u can look up the color of any wires and much more...check out the 3rd n 4th post

At each corner of the molex connector there is a small gap that you should be able to slip 16 ga wire through without any drilling. 16 ga is plenty big for door speakers. i have 2 runs into each of my front doors

NO problems at all it snapped right back in to place and I ran 16 gauge as well.

In the middle of running the speaker wire to the doors and I cannot figure out how to get the boot that is connected just on the outside of the cab (not the one on the door, that one was easy) off. Any help would be great.

it snaps into the cab with platic tabs. you have to squeeze it to get them to release. If you look at the rubber part it says push in the corners. Push from the outside corner towards the middle it will come right off.

For now I simply tapped into the factory wires from the cab and spliced into the factory connector in the door. I was having trouble with it. i may go back at a later time and run the wire directly into the door.
