I wonder why they call it the “rust belt”?

It’s heartbreaking to see it like this…regularly!

I’m having it detailed inside and out next week! Paint is getting “corrected”, and a good coat of wax! I elected not to go ceramic because I do drag her through the trees and do a bit of pinstriping!

Anyone else enjoy the daily salting?

Is that from the "Brine" solution they use Upstate?
I bet that eats through paint faster than seagull droppings. When I lived in NY, during winters I used Collinite 845 Liquid Insulator Wax. Protection lasted 90% of the winter untill it got warm and i could redo it.

Was out and about in the wife's car this weekend, so we went through the car wash. Dark car with very noticeable white residue all over. The ram and sierra will be getting the same treatment soon. We had a couple not bad but bad enough snow storms in the last couple weeks, some of the roads were still white even after the snow was gone, that's how much salt they used.

It's a part of life here and we live on a gravel road to boot. The wife of course had to have a black suv so that thing only looks nice after I wash it for 150' til she hits the end of the driveway. Fluid film every spring and fall and hope for the best. My truck is white, hides the salt a lot better lol, and hasn't been washed since around Thanksgiving.

And that is the reason I moved out of the rust belt. A friend of mine back in the Midwest tried a product this year on his truck called "Salt-Away". He had been extremely happy with the results and will continue to use it. He buys it in the concentrate and mixes it, and then uses a pump sprayer to apply it. Apparently it was designed for Marine use, but is perfect for removing road salt from vehicles..

Mine never made it the 150’! I put the hose away, and the truck is dusted by the time I get back to it!

Here in NJ they seem to get the salt/brine trucks out whenever the temps dip below 35 degrees. Doesn't even have to be snow or frost in the forecast... It's almost to the point that getting onto the road is like driving over a speed bump there's so much salt put down. Guess they feel they've got to use it or they won't get the funding for more salt the following year.

been to Naples quite a few times...cousin lives there. I sure miss those home made grape pies! Best in the world! Everyone should go to the Grape Festival.

Looks terrible. Just keep it frozen and out of temperature controlled garage it’s the thawing out that will get the rust active. I’ll wash once a month if it gets salty in winter and I make sure it’s dry and cold before it goes back in the garage after a wash. I also Woolwax 2x a year in central Illinois

Who’s your cousin? I’ve been in Naples 35 years doing HVAC! I know a lot of people here! I lived in Italy Valley for 21 of those years! Now I’m in S Bristol, about a mile or so from Bristol Mountain Ski Resort!

I have a brother in a town just south west of Chicago! It’s seems no matter where we go, it’s salt world in the winter!
