Actually mine had the factory wires in the harness already. They are green with different colored stripes. They end in the cab by the footwell and at the rear latch mechanism. I dare say, you may not need a harness at all except from the kick panel to the radio and from the tailgate harness to the camera for a few inches.

Your on your own, but NAV-tv had a wiring diagram for their 8.4/5.0 solution that showed the use of these wires. When I took my rear latch apart I saw they were there and unused. I thought about using them but the harness was so easy and I had it, I installed it.

Anyway, good luck.

I installed mine yesterday.

i started by going to the dealer to have it programmed. the first dealer (usually the one i do my service at since its closer to my house) was king of hesitant about doing it. they didnt know if they should since then it shows my truck had the camera. so then i wend to the dealer that i purchased from they did it no problems. their tech dropped what he was doing and 15 minutes later i had it done. of course they charged me for it but well worth it.

for my truck the harness thats in the tailgate it goes back down only the 2 wires once its under the bed of the truck and goes to another connector.

i went with one of the $30 cameras i will already upgrade mine as the image is not the best, very bright. however it may be because i have it hooked up to the reverse light and not an accessory. i have to do a little searching.

I brought the attached instructions for my dealer in with me.

I just installed this last night and so far the video quality sucks, Im not sure if its just because it was dark but at night it was pretty bad. I cant wait until day to try it. Also you say you pulled power from the reverse lamp? When I tried that it caused my camera screen to flicker and blink, but if I moved it to solid power from the trailer plug its fine. I was wondering if that was because the pulse power thing the 13's have? Does any one know where I can pull solid ACC power towards the rear of the truck so I don't have to run a lead all the way to the front, the power wire that came with my set up is only 5 feet long or so.

i added a relay so that it didnt put any current draw on the reverse light system.

im going to play around and see if i get a better video quality if i run a true accessory wire. my picture quality is not much to be desired either.

i really "cheated" and used a wireless transmitter for the video signal so i didnt have to run any wires.

I ran a hard wire and the video still sucks. I even tried one of my high high end RCA wires to see if it helped over the cheap wire and nothing. Its just the camera

New ground went to the factory spot and no better video quality. Still yet to use it in day light it's fully wired so I'll be able to tell tomorrow. I ran a relay off the back up lamp and it's all good now. I would like to see a factory back up to see the difference if there is any, I've never had a back up cam to judge

I just finished mine up, took about 2 1/2 hours start to finish, dealer did the flash for $49 without an appt and no waiting, they were very skeptical that it'd work and just said it'd be $49 to unflash it later.
Only issue I had was getting the pins to seat into the harness, I've never done it before so there's a chance I don't what I'm doing.
Camera quality is as good as any other vehicles I've owned with a facotry camera.
Only note I'd add, is where I went through the firewall, same place as original post, that is where my hood latch cable runs through, super easy and was already greased with silicone.
Thanks for the help!!

Glad it worked for you. I use mine every day. The video quality seems fine. Your install went as smooth as mine. For about $250 complete you can' t beat it.

So with these kits, do the lines on the display move when the wheel is turned as they do on the factory units?

I have installed the factory camera and with JeepGuys help (custom made harness), I was able to get the camera and the moving lines working on my 5.0. The quality is perfect. I wonder if these kits are using a lower end camera vs what comes from the factory. My quality at night is spot on as well.

on the aftermarket kits the lines do not move.

i have installed a wireless kit hooked up to my factory screen. you get some interference once in a while. but otherwise its ok. problem is i went with a cheaper camera so thats what i dont like and i will be upgrading that part.

I just had the dealer turn on the option, and i put the video signal wires from the receiver into the same locations as all the kits tell you to do. then for power for the receiver i used the cig lighter in the console.

Baum, I have a aftermarket Radio with camera connections and want to install a wireless camera. Does the wireless camera you installed have RCA connections? If you don't mind what system did you use? Thanks ,too lazy to run wires from the Back.

New 2 4G Wireless Mini Car Rear View Color Backup Camera Video Cable DC12V | eBay

You still have to hook power up to it in the rear but what i did was snag a power, ground, reverse light trigger at the 7 pin trailer harness and used a relay and mounted it all in the tail gate.

The Echo Master I received is different. The wires are not incased in hardened case an the pwr wire is not long enough. I called Echo Master they said connect pwr to reverse lights but the instructions say not to. So then he told me to connect it to my 7-pin tow connection. Only thing the 12v there is constant, not switched.

So I guess my question is does it matter if the camera has constant voltage? Seems it would wear our quicker.
