So I waited until the guys at S&B had test fit an intake on a 2013. Supposedly all good so I order one. Tonight I got my stock air box all tore out, PITA by the way because of the wheel well insert removal but I figure would be totally worth it. Get the new box put together and slide it in to find out that I cant attach it because the A/C lines are in the way!!!! I think, hmmm must be doing something wrong so I try repositioning, checking everything, and no matter what, there is no way this thing will fit and be in the proper position. I am so pissed that I took my truck apart only to find out S&B didn't do a very good job testing it. I am sure Matt will make it right but sooooo frustrating.

Anyone else have a problem yet?

A few pics to show you guys:

Guy, you didn't read the fine print; the CAI is a weight savings too, in that you have to remove your entire a/c system.

Where's that B.S. flag for the 2013 testing??:wtf2:

Hmmm, don't really need the ac right now.... I am hoping it is just something simple that I can fix.

Update:

I got it on tonight but had to remove the brackets holding the A/C lines. I then was able to get the box installed but to reattach the larger bracket (see pic) I had to bend it to allow it to line up with the hole again. I think S&B needs to try installing on another 2013 and maybe design a new down tube to avoid the exreemly tight fit. I have installed many intakes in the past but this one was the biggest pain. Not only the A/C line issue but removal of the wheel well liner and getting it to line up again when reinstalling, especially with the factory flares. In the end I think the fit is just ok, seems a bit of a stretch from the TB to the inlet on the box and it is hard to get both rubber adapter to seat well at the same time. I do think however that this is one of the better made CAIs out there, better materials than the K&N. all of this is just my two cents, I know a lot of folks on here are big fans of the S&B and I hope I will be too after I get it out on the road. I am sure all of the trouble will be worth it when I open her up!

Does the AC line stick up like that from the factory or is it because of the S&B? It looks like they could have shortened it a few inches.

After seeing this, I think I'll just stick to stock with maybe a K&N dropped in and a down tube fitted to allow more forced cold air.

The A/C line is like that from the factory. It's possible that I had more trouble than others will, maybe my lines were positioned just differently enough to be a problem. I will be interested to hear others experiences as well. I provided this feedback to S&B, will keep you guys posted on what they say.

I just went with the K&N drop in. Seems like a pain in the ass to get the S&B in.

S&B is a great company, and their tech support and R&D group are very easy to work with. I'm sure they will be fitting this kit on another truck within a few days to see if any changes need to be made to the kit. It may be as simple as just providing a new AC bracket that will give the clearance that is needed.

Having said that, I sold a Vararam to a 2013 owner earlier this week, so I'm waiting for some pics and a review from him. Vararam said that it would work, but I'm waiting for some real world pictures. I will keep you guys posted.

Thanks Matt, I really appreciate all of your help. I am not trying to bad mouth S&B, I really hope my issues were isolated to my truck. I just feel that when you pay $300 for an intake fit should not be a problem.

Matt and the guys at S&B were very quick to respond, even late at night when I identified the issue. I agree, service and support are top notch from both Moes and S&B and that is hard to find these days!

Well, I just got mine on, wasn't toooo bad, but I agree with pretty much everything that was said by Recontango, the AC lines definitely need alot more massaging then the instructions say, although the AC lines can be adjusted front and forward some, by factory they are already as far forward as they can go. Also agree about the removal of the wheel liner to be a PITA, but in the end it was definitely worth the work IMO, truck felt more responsive and you could literally hear it getting more air, which I don't mind at all I actually prefer the louder intake :) Overall I'd say don't let our feedback about the AC lines discourage you for getting one for your 2013, just be prepared to tinker with it for a while to get it in correctly, it'll be worth it!

FYI on the wheel liner...
You don't need to fully remove it. I just removed the screws and two of the push pins. The liner pulled down enough to gain access without fully removing it.

Yeah I didn't fully take mine out either, I just set it on the wheel and put my arms thru the opening

Just because I'm pedantic about information like this, but on mine the issue was atleast less severe as Recontango's.. while I had to undo mine to get it in, when I went to bolt it back up I only had to bend it downward and not cocked sideways like his. I also have enough clearance around the line to fit my fingers through.

Glad to hear it worked out! I agree, great performance, worth the hassle. I too can really feel it in the butt dyno, and sound at WOT is awesome.
