For what it’s worth, buy Weather Tech rubber mats for the winter. I still have the OEM mats for my 2016 and only swapped them once. I live in an area near the beach and have found the rubber mats work extremely well. They clean up easy and if and when I sell the truck I will most likely put the original ones back in to show it. Either way, it’s easier to have winter / summer mats.
That is what we did with my wifes Jeep and it was the best investment. My issue with my Flex is finding them. I did find a full set the other day on eBay, but they want almost 500 bucks for them and they were a knock off brand.

I have used this Simple Green it's been the best for me in removing salt in my truck carpet. Since I put rubber mats
That fixed the problem. This stuff takes out tar and grease in carpets and removed stains on my car seats also.
Make sure to use a clean rag when scrubbing the stain / salt spots. But as always test somewhere first. I have never had a problem with it tho. Good Luck!

In the old days, before floor liners, we crafted up an equal amount of warm water and white vinegar and sprayed the salt-infested area, lightly brushed and patted with a clean, damp cloth. After it dries, hit it with the vacuum.
Yes, that works quite well. I have found that sometimes after it dried I had to chase after it with a spray foam carpet cleaner, then vacuum.

Man!...alot of good info on this topic...I have to say I never really gone to the extent/ed? of a sh** job of cleaning out the nasty crap you guys are describing(salt)but nonetheless some solid info/answers to some dirty cleaning jobs, treeburk(sry brother if I didnt spell it out) does seem to have some soIid answers about the subject,..i must say I agree with all about doing something, anything is better than nothing...I myself cant say I've been in this situation as I have the weathertec settup all around with the factory mats on top of that..friggin carpet underneath still looks brand new.(just vacuumed and cleaned everything yesterday)..I'm an old stingy guy(of course not that old with you ole timers on here...lol)that is very old school ...if you protect it with some rediculos methods..sh** should last along time.. if you look at my ride the interior is brand new(2010 so old as fu*k),outside a different story,my tonneau cover isnt factory and the clear is starting to flake away on it,pretty soon I'll mess with it when it pis** me off but the rest of the truck looks fantastic so I guess I'm pretty lucky from the ole ram brand on the paint, value is mute at this point as I keep a vehicle way past that...I'm 56(hell I cant remember nowadays, had way to many milligrams of the good stuff as Dilligaf has suggested)to even care and I've only owned 3 trucks my whole life to give a f**k.
This is very nice topic I've enjoyed reading about and will continue to see some of the remedies to combat the topic at hand......dammit now I gotta go p*ss... I've written to long again......lol

Funny you say that...I bought a full set of factory mats off fleabay some years ago..actually have the "ram" emblem on them for my year for just that purpose of reselling....wife literally destroyed the passenger side...no clue how she accomplished this task but she has and I holler everytime she gets in my ride, but current set is torn to he*l....I also have the weathertec brand mentioned and cannot be happier with its protection.

I sell 55 gallon drums of this stuff to fleets and get a lot of repeat business once people try it. It breaks down the crystalline structure of salt so it can be easily washed away or extracted from carpet.
