Just bought a brand new 2022 DT Ram 1500 Rebel on Friday. It had 58 kms on it. Side note: I actually work in the parts dept at my local CDJR. Tech brought it in for diag today and I had 2 stored codes for the rear axle. He clears codes and kicks it out. Leaving work today, I start my truck and it’s back on. Has anyone had any successful fixes done on this issue? There’s no service bulletins or anything. I’m starting to think I shouldn’t have traded my Chev

A brand new truck? Assume this tech verified there’s diff fluid in it? Buddy of mine fried a diff with no fluid in it on a test drive with the salesman in the car in a hand built car. It did a nice little spin into the oncoming lane and ditch when the diff seized. Needless to say he didn’t buy it!

ok did they check why you had 2 codes or just reset it??? if thats the case go somewhere else, and having one problem and saying you shouldnt have traded in your chevy is well not thinking things out .problems will occur in new vehicles chevy included get the problem resolved and you may have many happy miles with your new purchase .

FCA/Stellentis has a rep of shipping them low on diff fluid,it's very common in the Challengers and Chargers,so that should be your first check

Our best tech verified there were no issues with the connector. There’s an actuator inside the diff that’s part of the case and cannot be serviced separately. We ordered a rear case and he found the problem instantly. Chafed wire for the win. Since changing the case, it’s been working great.

My 22 Laramie with off road package and only 3700 miles is doing this too. This needs to be fixed. It happens at least 1 time every trip now. However, I bet the dealer will say they cannot duplicate it.

Had this problem too, it’s the fuse. Buy a new 15a fuse and you should be good! The service 4x4 will clear and your axle lock will work again.

First question i have ,is why did the fuse blow, was it because of a wiring issue, high amp draw etc. There's always a reason why a fuse blows

If you remove the rear diff cover, is it possible to inspect the wire in the differential case without taking apart all the other components?

Hey all

i would like to try to open this topic again as i have simmilar but not the same problem. mm axle locker stopped funktioning after turning it on and trying to drive. after 5m the failure came up and since then its not working? nor really sure but i guess the same problem with the wire could be also at me possible. not just quite sure where and witch wire i should get to replace it or how is it called. as i really would like not to change the whole rear axle as from mopar suggested.

what would you suggest here to do better?

I opened my diff and inspected that wire, it was fine. My buddy at Ram determined that it was a broken wire in the rear axle harness. I think this is a particular problem for models that have the e-locker in the rear diff. The wire is small and appears to be more of an after thought. It was indeed broken. New harness installed and issue is gone. I do have the old harness. I’ll be pulling it apart to determine where exactly the wire broke. Hope this helps.

My 2019 Laramie had the ORP with the e-locker, it got used frequently in the winter, never had an issue.
Good luck with yours.
