New to the forum, hope this goes well. Intermittently, while stopped at a light, the truck revs erratically, the puts itself in Park, and applies the emergency brake. Brought it to the dealership 3 times, last trip the said they couldn't find the problem. I get no check engine or other error. Anyone help out, thanks.

I would consider the recommendations covered in the article, especially refurbishing all of the common ground blocks, as well as adding 'The Big 3' electrical mod, and an H8 AGM battery.

Thank you. I did notice that the voltage fluctuate between 12.4 and 14.4 on occasion. Not sure if it's related to my problem. Forgot to mention that the start/stop always gives me the message "not ready, cooling or heating ".

Hope you get some help for that as it must be frustrating.I read an article earlier online today(a reviewer was testing a RAM SSTH0) where the trailer brakes would cut out while towing, to prevent the block from overheating,in the Hurricane with twin turbos.They were experiencing temps. over,220 while towing a trailer.The turbos create alot of heat that is hard to dispell..Are you towing something when this happens? I have read when towing and the engine temperature gets very hot the truck may start to shut down prevent the block itself from damage. A bit different scenerio than yours perhaps,but if your engine is very hot this can happen,and trigger odd behavior.

The 12.4VDC is the resting battery state of charge. The 14.4VDC is the alternator voltage.
With the start/stop feature, you also have a second battery.




From what I've read, the smaller battery behind the main battery is for the start/stop function.
If the EVIC displays that the start/stop isn't available, that's likely because the battery is not sufficiently charged or defective. I wouldn't be in a hurry to fix the feature, but I detest the start/stop concept.


Chasing electronic gremlins and intermittent failures can be very challenging.
Unless you are incredibly lucky enough to suffer a steady-state failure that remains, allowing you to troubleshoot the issue, we're left with covering all the basics as the only solution.

The 3 options I offered above should not impact any warranty coverage, and I would never consider paying dealership rates to have them completed. You can get the guidance here to complete them yourself if you're mechanically inclined, or locate a trusted mechanic in a small shop to have the work completed.

The Start/Stop system will keep the engine running when the vehicle is stopped if the HVAC is calling for cooling or heating. That message may stay on if you like to keep the AC at a really cold or hot setting.
