So this just came on this morning at first start up. Not sure what it could be and was hoping you guys might be able to shed some light on the possibilities. 2018 PW. Just had oil changed last Monday and they did a “U53 occupant restraint control module recall CSN 2”... d36bc2e86c43576d087de3639fc01dd0.jpg

Plugged it up Cen-Tech OBD II code reader and it’s reading the evaporative emission system leak detected (very small leak) PO456

Not sure the way forward from here? New gas cap? Exhaust leak? [emoji1749]‍[emoji3603][emoji1743]‍[emoji3603]

12.4 Average MPG...42,025 miles with a guess of an average of 22 gallons per fill up equates to about 150 fill ups. The gas cap, its gas cap door, and the gas filler tube are probably all worn out from over use! :)

If you don't have a locking gas cap, now might be a justification to replace the factory cap with a locking one to see if it fixes the issue. Cheap insurance against vandalization of the fuel too.

Suggestions on a locking one?

I purchased a locking cap from Napa for my 2016. It self locks when it is screwed on vs the O'Reilly version of which one has to manually relock.

I do not have the Napa model # due to the salesman looked through a catalog in the tiny town of Plateau City, Colorado. Their catalog didn't cover the newer models of Dodge/Ram. An older model year fuel cap is being used, but it fits the newer models.

Napa cap

Pros...Locks your gas cap.

Cons...In extremely cold weather (below minus 20 Fahrenheit) the pivoted steel cover to protect the key slot from dirt froze solid and so the pivot rivet holding it into the plastic snapped entirely off a piece of the plastic cap and the cover. The cap still works and locks. Exterior plastics become brittle in subzero temperatures.

Also, the key fits in one direction, only. In below freezing temperatures it becomes somewhat stubborn and difficult to get the key into the lock. Sprayed a deicer and lubricant into the key slot to help. When I drove this winter to Oregon where gas attendants in higher population counties were required by law to open the cap and to pump the gas, some attendants couldn't get it open. I had more than one attendant give me back the key to have me open it.
