Hey y'all, new to this forum. I would like to get your opinion/input on why I cannot get my truck to go in to all gears all the time. I have replaced the shifter cable and adjusted it to the best of my knowledge, but when I go to drive it I have to shift the lever multiple times to get it to go in gear then when I am attempting to back up in reverse sometimes it'll work sometimes it won't. Will not go into park so I must get it to go in neutral to turn it off, but it thinks it is park so I can't take the key out. Then I shift it up and down finally allowing me to get key out but have to put ebrake in cuz now it thinks it's in neutral. Sorry alot going in this but trying to give as much oversight as possible.

If your cable replacement was successful, it could be the shifter mechanism on the steering column has worn or broken parts. Also the brake will allow a shift lock to disengage. You could have intermittent electric issues that prevent this from working properly, possible bad solenoid. Those are things that come to my mind. Good luck.
