shifter retro fit?

Ok guys this is what i as wondering, I have a 2014 ram with the dumb turn knob shifter. i was wi=ondering if anyone had tried to retro fit a shifter outta the older truck doesn't seem like it would be a terrible issue was just curious

I think it's just habit, I feel retarded when I drive my Durango. Somethings just missing. I think I'd rather have a nice column shifter if I had a choice. I don't "hate" the knob , but I definitely don't like it.... Luckily my ram has the console

Ive seen the shifter and parts on ebay the knob is agravating at times but its smart, if i turn off the truck in gear it resets on its own to park

must be my love of driving a manual, I hate the fact that there is such a huge center console which really serves no purpose other than collecting junk, I had the shifter in my 13 guess it was just more comfy to me

I think the physical swap would be easy, but the electronic side may have some issues. The computer communicates with it differently then the other shifter options.

What do you guys do when you want to manually shift when you have the knob? I love the stick/column thing right at my right side. I mean WOT downshifting needs to be done manually so what do ya'll do?

The console shifter for the 5/6 speed trucks is cable operated. I'm pretty sure the column shifter is as well whereas the 8 speed knob is electronic. Replacing an electronic shifter with a cable operated shifter definitely won't be easy...
