I went to Budd's creek MIR in southern Maryland Saturday for the big MOPAR event/ car show.

My previous PB ( only other time I have raced it) was a 14.119 @ 97.88, from last spring with 3/4 tank of gas,
So I was optimistic in getting into the 13 second time if I dropper the spare, the tailgate, and all the gear from the cab.
also has 1/4 tank of gas.
first pass was the fastest, 14.044, followed by a 14.077, three hours later. Lots of downtime, track clean up. A corvette pro mod backed into the far wall at 100 mph and exploded. driver not hurt but long clean up and a beautiful car ( with a TRUMP sticker) destroyed. Hard to work on the tree and launch with such long breaks. I tried leaving on the second amber and went red .014, so when I got to competition rounds...anther three hours later, I waited for it to go out then went. can't win if you go red. crappy lights, .368, I did get it down to a .239 on the last pass. First round I was racing a kid in a 2008 charger, on a 13.75 dial I dialed a optimistic 13.95. He was freaking out in the staging lanes trying to adjust his dial..I handed him a rag. He must have spun on launch I never saw him till the end and I was on the brakes... when I reviewed my slip I wasn't on track to run close to 13's.
Another two hours later I had to load up all my gear, as my buds were out and leaving, so dialed a 14.10 and ran a 14.27, Lost. Oh well, long day for four runs.
Although it got cooler the air was heavier, most folks were running slower as the day and night progressed. I'm sure Ill get the 13.99 run either later this fall or in the spring. If I get to a track again before they close, at a TnT, I know I can find the sweet spot in the launch and work on the tree. Ill probably throw in a couple gallons of race fuel, just to eliminate any knock. I actually had planned on doing so but I left it home.
Still, for a Crew cab 4X4, Vararam intake, exhaust, TB, , TSTAT, Hemifever tune ( Thanks Sean!)...... pretty stout.
No I did not use the shifting buttons, I may later once I figure out the rest.
Yes on the auto 4WD , 2WD likes to wheel hop and spin.
321 gear. Yeah I know 391 or whatever would help.

I would normally run my charger at this event, but I got rear ended and its not fixed yet. Probably safe but looks ugly.

I got a few positive comments on my "Deplorable's for Trump" sign in my back window.

That's Racing!
Hope You all had a good weekend !

I've played around with the launch and found that if I hold the brake heavy and keep my rpm's up it cuts a good 1/3 second off my time. I assume your already doing this?

Yeah I brake left foot, take the slack out of the drivetrain with the gas, I just need more time to find the sweet spot, then adjust for the tree. More launches in less time.

thanks.

This gets me to want to go to the track and time my truck. I kinda learned how to launch it by street racing lol. I need to lookup the closest track to me

SUCCESS!
First pass 13.994 @ 98.00 60 foot 2.030
I drove to the track from work, forgot to pack my helmet but figured I'd run till they flag me down.

second pass 14.004 @ 97.96 60 foot 2.040

I let it cool off while I helped my buddy out then third pass:

13.968 @ 98.18 60 foot 2.033

I did not have time to load the undated tune from Hemifever, I had just over a half tank of gas, I unloaded the spare and the tailgate.

I probably could have shaved another 20 lbs from the cab

Air was real good.
Its great to achieve a goal, and not have to change tires etc. like I do in my charger.

Just reminder: this is a 4wd crew cab.

Rest of the weekend might be a little boring

Congrats! I want to take mine pretty soon. Haven't gone down the strip in any vehicle for years.

Congrat's on reaching your goal!!!!! The down side is you know it will never be enough---the 12's are next :naughty::naughty: You better put Moe's on speed dial.

Just what I need more encouragement......

But really its my daily driver, so I should leave it alone. Its badass enough, right? dam its a 4WD Crew Cab. heavy

Sean said Ill probably get another tenth for his latest updated tune, so
13.8ish...so probably be about 99 mph...
be nice to break 100 mph .

Maybe Ill set the tranny to 1-3 and let it run out to 6,000-62000 RPM then shift it with the buttons.....13.7ish probably right at 100 MPH

Goal acheived

But that would be it , its my daily driver ya know.

Ya know a set of long tubes would really compliment the Vararaam intake, Ported TB and require a new tune...13.5 probably 103/104 mph.

Launches suck, might as well put a 3,000 stall TC in there and pick up a couple tenths in the 60 foot, nothing to crazy, really its just to get consistent on the line, my wife drives the truck occasionally and I don' t want her to have fun, I mean get scared. maybe get down around 13.35....

As long as can still tow and drivability is ok....right? that would be a good place to stop modding at.....

Probably would be cool to swap the dif from a 321 to the 392 but have to swap both, not sure how expensive that might be.

Better to drop a huge ass bumpstick in there, a new tune, maybe a dyno tune,
13.1/ 105

But thats it, I mean it ! enough!

...so close to 12.9....ok maybe a set of DRs, and a DS loop, yeah that's it, but I gotta be careful with the front dif...hmmmm no 4wd auto and press ESP..no worries, right?
Well, if its close but not there ( 12.9) I probably should get some front runners, just so they match the DRs, right? less contact area. lighter. faster better...and I can get them in the same height as the DRs so no worries should I choose to 4WD auto launch....

But I think Ill stop at 12.9 right?

I've ben down this road before in my charger, and its a blast, but I reaaallly think Ill leave the truck alone......at some point.....
