A month or so ago we had our child car seat sitting in the rear center position. When in this position the tether needs to go through the center loop and then attach to the right or left loops. Every time we needed to attach/detach this it was a royal PITA. The seat's tether buckle just barely fits though the loop so the only way to get it to work was to open the rear window to allow access. In this case we were in a big hurry, it was snowing and needed to remove the seat and transfer it to a car. The outside temp was around 19 degrees and the rear window was frozen shut. My wife and daughter in-law couldn't get the buckle removed so the only option was to have them cut the loop on the truck.
I put a replacement loop on order (stinkin thing was $44 ) and after a bit of searching found a tether extender from evenflo for only $9 ($5 for shipping)! Works great and it should fit mostly any car seat. Basically attach the extender's latch to the left/right loop and pass the other end, which is a hefty metal tab, though the center loop. Then clip the normal seat tether to the extender. The extender has a buckle on it, just cinch up the slack and it holds tight. Evenflo PN 24505979
