Just noticed today that there is a piece of wire brush bristle or something similar under the paint on my hood. It's not real big but now that I've noticed it I constantly see it. The truck is under warranty (only has 1k miles). I'm wondering what I should do. I'm afraid that it may break free when I wash, wax and buff the truck. What would you do? I don't want them to break it off and put touch up paint on it because it's a new truck and I'm paying good money for it. I'd rather they paint it properly or give me a new hood. If I knew for a fact that it would never break off I would probably leave it. Opinions please.

I guess my first course of action would be to go to the dealership and see what they will do to fix it and go from there.

When fixing the third brake light (I had the common water leak issue), they damaged the paint around the light. I pointed it out and they fixed it with touch up paint at their paint shop. It looks great, hard to tell touch up paint was ever used. While I truly like my truck, wash it every week and wax it twice a year, it is a daily driver. Paint damage occurs from all sorts of things. If it was a collector grade truck meant for investment, then I would have much bigger concerns about the paint and any possible damage to it.

I intend to take it to the dealer. I guess if they used touch up paint and it would last and not be obvious I'd be ok with that. Does the touch up paint ever come up and need to be repainted? My concern would be that it would come off during washings and waxing and need to be redone frequently. If not then it would be fine.

Mine has been on there three years and has not come off with weekly (and even more often in the winter) washes through the car wash. It also appears they used some clear coat over it as well. It was a paint shop that did it, not a tech in the back with a bottle of touch up paint.
