Speaker installation

So I have never installed a system myself. Years ago I had a kenwood amp and alpine speakers installed in my car and it was nice. What are some good options for a 2010 Ram 2500? I do not know how to wire a box or an amp.

In my opinion, your best option is to find a reputable local shop and let your ears decide which speakers sound the best to you. Every ear is different and every person has a different opinion of what sounds good to them. Once you get that figured out, there are plenty of guides of how to replace them if you want to do it, or you can pay the shop to do it.

Another option is to look online, like Crutchfield. They can offer you all of the parts, pieces and speakers and guides for you to tackle the install yourself. Downside, you never get to hear them until they are installed. Depending on your level of handiness, your satisfaction of doing a good job will make it worth it, or not.

With all that being said, I'm an old guy that has done installs both professionally and on the side since the mid 90's. I'm in the process of building a set of sail panel pods for a set of tweeters, pillars for a 3" midrange, I'll deaden and install door speakers, and build a fiberglass box for subs under the rear seat. A processor and three amps will go on the back wall behind the rear seats.

I ordered up a set of 6x8 speakers, thinking they were 6x9. I thought I read they will still mount up fine. Anyone ever end up using 6x8’s??
