When is Ram providing the split tailgate option on the heavy duty? I think is a great option and feature

Probably after the 2020 new body comes out. You could buy from the dealer and put it on yourself. About $1300 or more

The gate (5th gen) will fit the 4th gen box? For some reason I doubt that.

And its only $1300?!

Exactly. So why would a split tailgate from the new body-style bed fit it?

There is no split tailgate for HeavyDuty.

The HeavyDuty isn't going to be getting the new bed for a few years.

You can not even do the swap on a 1500 as the bed is different and so is the wiring. (Well atleast not without spending a substantial amount of money)

The whole bed is different. You are correct, the size may be close...but it isn't the same. The electrical is different. And the ends of the bed is were all the extra engineering goes.

This is not tailgate swap.

It is a bed and cargo system swap.

The little angle braces at the front of the bed drive me crazy... I mean, is that really needed?!

On the 1500 pickups the split tailgate adds more than $3500 to the price for the truck as the $995 "multifunction" tailgate is only sold with the $845 bed utility group option and the bed utility group is sold only if you also get the $1695 Level 1 equipment group. Nice tailgate but Ram is really sticking it to its customers with their bundling requirements.
