Weird. Was getting 18 mpg on my SO when is the standard Auto Mode.

Thought I'd try the Sport Mode for a while, and found the fuel milage went up to 20+ mpg

Any ideas why?

1) The digital readouts are not known to be particularly accurate.
2) Even if you did actually improve, in a short term test the conditions would likely be the cause of any changes. Would want multiple hundreds of miles before drawing any conclusions.

Drive with long term MPG findings on trip (2) for MPG over the full distance between oil changes to determine the vehicles basic AVERAGE overall MPG. Trip 1 is used for normal fill ups and short trips. And trip 1 is now at close to 900 miles for a over all average of how things are going. This way pulling the boat, the dump trailer and daily driving is all averaged out. Haven't' even tested Sport mode but did do 440 miles in trailer/haul mode with a 1200LB load in the the truck bed and averaged 21 on the MPG read out and put in exactly 20 gallons with the 2nd click fill up style to work out to 22mpg. This is part of the current 900 miles of random normal driving. Did change from gramps get out of the way driving style to a much younger style and the truck has responded very nicely. SO 3.0 3.92 gearing.
