2008 1500 5.7 118000 miles.

Bought the truck in March, had it gone over by a reputable mechanic, only a couple issues and had them fixed.

When I go over bumps while cornering the truck becomes unstable and skips out a little. I really noticed it this weekend when going to the beach. Had a few pucker moments with my son in the truck while travelling 75-80 mph around bends with bumps. This time the front and back stepped out a bit, close to going into next lane. Are these trucks inherently squirrely? Time for new shocks/struts? I've seen many go to Bilstein's, any thoughts there?

Thanks in advance.

Likely shocks/struts and/or bushings.

agree, shocks or struts or both.

That car like ride comes at price, in other areas.
Reason I also got tuftruck springs. I bought a truck, not some Caddy./

It's a full size truck. I didn't expect it to drive like my Accord, or even my Ranger, but I expected it to be safe. I'll replace the suspension and hope that tightens it up.

Try putting a few hundred pounds in the back and see if it mitigates it some. These trucks r sprung for so much weight that unloaded they can feel a little springy. I've also noticed that different tires can produce what ur describing on some bucles in the roadway. As others have said also better shocks will help some too.

Not the 1500s; not sure how Ram even considered them for truck use.

Maybe I'm the only one who checked out at 118k miles. You are likely rolling on all original shocks, springs, and bushing. It's time to replace most of the rubber components in the front end.

Just like my Avalanche I had the same issues till I replaced the front end parts. Tightened everything back up.

My 2008 1500 does the same thing. I have 62000 miles. If I'm traveling 55+ mph, around a curve, hit a bump/pot hole, it will hop 6 to 12 inches. It's always done this.
