2015 3500 Tradesman came without steering wheel radio controls. If I purchase an OEM steering wheel radio kit is it plug and play?

It's all plug and play. It's easy, but very time consuming. Get the tool for re!loving the center of the steering wheel that has the airbag in it. It's not very expensive, but will make your life a lot easier when trying to remove the piece. I wish i would have splurged for it.

With the air bag removal tool the whole job took me less the 1/2 hour, I didn't think it was time consuming at all. Watch the video and using the phone trick to see the pieces to push down helps a ton.

i have a 2018 Tradesman without the contols, had them on my 2003 Ram 2500 and miss them Did you have to get software / code flashed to allow controls to adjust the volume and radio channels?

I installed these on my 18 ram 2500 and yes it was time consuming. about 1 1/2 and I used a flat head and a mirror to remove the air bag hooks/clamps. They automatically worked.

The photos make it look messier than it really is. I made a little mark on the threads where the steering wheel mounts just to reduce error.

thanks for the pictures, it is good to see another person's work. it will definitely make it easier. just wondering, what did you mark I'm not sure I'm seeing it on your photo. but I'm also concerned, is there a software or some type of code flash that the dealership needs to do to allow those new buttons to work or do they just automatically work because they are now plugged into the wiring? thank you again really appreciate it.

I installed these on my 2017 express took about an hour total and yes they were plug and play no flash was needed for the controls to function. my son works for a Mopar dealership so he had the tool for removing air bag that made life a lot easier

very awesome, thank you all. i have ordered both the parts for the steering system and the tool to remove the clips. I've been reading instructions and watching videos, I will say probably the one thing that concerns me the most is moving that airbag clock spring and messing something up. it looks like maybe a combination of putting some marks with a marker and placing some type of long pin at the top will help keep it in place.

I didn’t have the tool so it was time consuming just getting that thing off.
