I have a 2018 ram 2500 tradesman. I recently changed my steering wheel to one with the radio controls on the back. Everything works with the new wheel except the radio controls. Do I have to bring it to the dealership to have it programmed or change the module? I also changed to a new HU. It’s a pioneer 3800nex. All the correct harnesses to for controls to work with factory radio they should work with the upgraded radio.

I am assuming you upgraded the factory 3.0 or 5.0 radio to the 8.4, is that correct? Who did you buy your harness from? Are you sure that the radio you bought is the correct one for your truck? Only radios from Gen. 4's will work so if you upgraded to a Gen. 5 radio that might be part of your problem. If you can post picture of your part number from the radio, one of the knowledge experts in here can let you know if that might be the problem. It could also be your harness, there is a difference for 2018 up and pre 2018. I did the same upgrade and there is no flashing of software or anything needed, it just works. I have same 2018 2500.

I upgraded to a pioneer 3800 nex. The the idata link was supposed to be able to control the factory 5” radio. Everything I read said it was also supposed to work with the pioneer also.
