Step side bed interchangeable

I was just wondering if early dodge truck beds are interchangeable because I can buy new step side boxes for 36-38 and 39-47 and didn't know if they could fit or have length issues or placement problems. its going on a 1st gen 84 ram.

Those may actually be too narrow for your truck. I do know they used the same fenders from the fifties clear up to the eighties. A good bed from those years maybe a better choice.
