Still no tuner available for 2013 Ram?

Hey there,

Just wondering if you had any information about when a bully dog tuner will be available for the 2013 ram 1500 5.7L? I seen in another thread that you had a line on some people in R&D at bully dog. I have been searching for one, and I have had no luck finding one that will work for it without causing problems. This hack shop here in Edmonton, Alberta tried to tell me that they could install a bully dog one... But my friend had it done there and it caused some major issues with his vehicle I guess. So I have opted to wait for the proper software and what not from the manufacturer. So any information would be great!

Unfortunately, none of the tuners have released any dates yet, and BD hasnt mentioned anything else to me about their test trucks. I would just start with the basic bolton mods now so that you have everything ready when the tuners are available. Mods available to you now are below...

Ported Throttle Body:
-Moe's 87mm Ported Throttle Body

Cold Air Intakes:
-S&B
-Vararam

Headers:
-ARH Longtubes
-JBA Shorties

Exhaust:
-Magnaflow catback system
-Basic muffler swap

Efan:
-Mopar V6 Fan
-TYC factory replacement v6 fan

Thanks a lot for the information! Do you think you could help me out with some reccomendations? is the Vararam the best in your opinion? And what is the difference between short and long tube headers? Will one of them give more power? And as far as exhaust goes, my truck doesnt have the dual exhaust, what would be the best option for performance?

The vararam intake is going to give you the most performance, but the S&B mounts more securely. If you take your outdoorsman offroad in rough conditions, then I would consider the S&B instead. If you it mostly street driven, then the Vararam is the way to go.

On the headers, Longtubes are always going to make more power, but they are considerably more expensive as well. With shorties, you are looking at about $700 if you replace the factory Y-pipe as well. The longtubes are $1554, but come with headers, mandrel bent y-pipe, high flow cats, o2 extensions, new bolts, new gaskets, and stainless clamps. You can expect about 15hp/tq with shorties and about 25-30hp/tq with the longtubes.

As for exhaust, with you having the single, I would just go with a cheap Magnaflow replacement muffler. These are only $100, and you can have any shop weld it on. The shorter the muffler the louder it will be. They offer them in a 14", 18", and 24".

I think the S&B would be the best bet then, I work in the oilfield and deal with some pretty terrible driving conditions. Think you could quote me a price on the S&B shipped to edmonton, alberta?

Any word on tuners yet? I have emailed both diablo and bully dog and both said "soon". I want it sooner than soon!

Diablo hasn't given me any updates, but I do know that Bullydog has a 13 in the shop that they are working on. They also have a few beta testers that they will be sending units to shortly. They did not give me an ETA yet.

I have seen some posts for Bullydog and Hypertech available for the 2013's on sites like Autoanything.com, as well as reviews for it. I guess it is good to go for the 2013 out of the box?

Bullydog has released the tuning for the 2013, but they are having a lot of issues with it right now. Unlike other companies that are money hungry, I would rather wait until they get some of these issues resolved before we start advertising them for the 2013's. Nothing worse that paying for a part that doesn't work when you receive it.
