Has anyone taken off the chrome clad covers on the 4th gen Rams? If so what does it look like? I was thinking down the round if mine get bad I could possible powder coat the rims!

Might depend on the year and which chrome clad wheel you're talking about. I've seen them in black under the chrome clad as well. It looked steel, but I could be wrong as I didn't touch it or put a magnet on it.

No. Its a flat finish aluminum rim. Not black at all. The chrome cladding is a plastic disk.

The ones I've seen on the ram forumZ was black. But true Im not sure if are rims are aluminum or steel.

And yeah you can call the chrome clad plastic disk if you want. But it's a hub cap plain and simple.

I was doing some market research on what kind of wheels people like and stumbled across these comments. I figured since I used to work for one of the companies that made chrome-clad wheels I’d offer some facts that may be helpful. Each of you is entitled to your own opinions though so I understand if you don’t like them. However, although it is easy to describe them as wheel covers or hub caps, they are not. Wheels covers are made in low cost countries from inexpensive plastic and can be easily removed – ever see a car running around without them after hitting a pothole? Chrome-clad wheels have an expensive engineered high-impact composite permanently bonded to the wheel to allow a high quality chrome finish to be applied.

I personally don't mind the chrome clads, but get the guy who is doing market research for ram headlights on here I've got a few opinions for him.
