Wondering what the stock pipe size is on the y pipe that goes under the 8-speed. I was thinking about wrapping the pipe under the 8-speed to reduce the heat directly under the plastic pan. I know it is kinda flattened on top but I was gonna try to rap it from the round part before and after the pan. So what size? Also any thoughts on weather this is a good Idea or not. I already have the Lava Wrap so why not give it a go.

So I climbed under and measured it. 2.5" diameter. I will have the clamps tomorrow. Once installed I will report back if it makes any difference in tranny temps.

I dont think it will make a significant difference. Air is actually a great insulator and when you are rolling down the road there is no time for the pan to get hot.

Yea highway probably would not do much. However I drive in morning traffic where most of the time I am not moving. The 8-speed at least for me seems to get hot when your just sitting. Cooler when it is moving that's where I got the idea.

Should be 2.25 not sure how dramatic the difference will be but on a buddy's truck I put new pipe across there and we wrapped his and on my old 06 I built a full stainless insulated with koawool for it, but the new pipes were closer to the pan.
