I am looking for some inexpensive ideas for weather proof bins for the truck bed. This is my first truck and I am curious what you use to keep items dry (like camping gear) in the back of the truck? I don’t have a cover and likely won’t be getting one soon so looking for other ideas.

Just me, but an inexpensive roll up cover would be less expensive than a waterproof container and would hide the bed contents. You could leave the cover off otherwise.

That would make the entire bed weather proof.

I have a friend who used the heavy duty totes from Costco to haul groceries and what not to keep things dry when needed. She put a tension rod in of some sort to prevent them from sliding around. The down side of this is the totes can be taken easily. She only put the totes in as needed. Its not super convenient but its a cheap solution.

Depending on your budget one of our team members may be able to help you find a cover or weather proof bins. They will be back in the office tomorrow, give them a call and see what they can do.

I would have to be on the cap or cover side. I picked up my truck last Feb and put two big container in the bed well went shopping and well they were gone. I went out that week and purchased a inexpensive trifold Cover it worked great we used it to round trip to Disney in March. Shortly after I was able to find a Color Matching fibreglass cap. Besides the security a cover gives you you also have the safety not having to worry about your cargo is dry and will not fly out while you are driving down the hiway

I've done it all over the years. I do construction and have tried all types of ways to haul tools. I agree with everyone else, some type of cover is best. I had an access brand roll up tonneau cover and loved it. Now I have a commercial topper which I like better for what I use it for, but the roll up cover was definitely better if you ever have to haul big stuff.
