Storage pocket next to radio?

Anybody know what the small pocket to the right of the 5” radio is for? If I had to guess, it measures about 1x2x5” deep.

I don't know what it's for, if anything, but these little touches are what sold me on a RAM vs the competition. Why *not* put it there, since it's just unused space? I don't need more weird bezels to make my truck look like a spaceship - I need storage for crap.

It would be cool if they made pockets that would fit in the entire space, vertically, so that trucks without the power inverter could basically have a storage spot that’s twice a size tall. Like just snap the replacement in.

The space under my pocket now houses a 12v power point that I relocated when I installed my center console. The usb that was on that side is now located in the lower glove box.

I don't think it is for any specific purpose, just whatever you can use it for. I use mine to store oxygen. Just in case I fly off a bridge and the cab fills up with water, an air pocket should form in there and it could come in handy for that last sip of air needed to escape!

I put one of those little flashlights that you can get for free from Harbor Freight in there. Of course mine is blue to match the truck.. LOL

I have a handful of EDC knives but only two of them will fit in there. The one I keep in my truck is sort of a multi-tool though, and it's longer and is currently all the way to the left inside the pull-out bin under the radio.
