My 4x4 2014 RAM 1500 Bighorn came lifted six inches with 20-inch wheels. We rarely take it off road and never where it shouldn't go. Despite being careful, suspension parts always need replacing and now we need a new rack and pinion. I've looked for a heavy duty suspension upgrade but it seems they don't exist. Has anyone performed a heavy duty upgrade like this similar to what 2500 RAM sport?

Are you referring to a solid axle swap? Lots of guys do it to pre-2000 vehicles for off roading, but I haven't seen it on a ram like yours. Considering on those older trucks, doing it on the cheap is at least a couple grand and doing everything well is 2-3X that, on a newer more expensive vehicle I can only imagine it being very cost prohibitive.

You said your wheel size, but what really matters is your tire size. But based off of your 6" lift and what I can see in your profile pick, I can imagine you are running large tires as well. Large tires are a steering component killer, especially when you add a lift. As parts wear out you can/should replace them with heavy duty equivalents ($$$), but that's about it. 'Tis the lifted life.

I looked into a Solid front axle swap, Trading in the vehicles was cheaper.

Lifted trucks cost 2-3x more to maintain. thats how the cookie crumbles.

Yes, and thank you for your thoughts. I know better to get nothing less than a 2500 RAM in the future. DK
