Strobe lights

I'm a mechanic for a construction company and do a lot of field work on the side of the road so I need to add strobe lights on my 2016 1500. I added the hideaways in the taillights and headlights and need to add grille lights. I want everything hidden so I don't want to put the light heads on the outside of the grill. If anyone has put them behind the grill any feedback and pictures would be helpful. Thanks!!

I was just looking into doing the same thing to my truck. Same reason. Any info on the hideaways you used in your heads and tails? What brand are you running and how was the install.

As for behind the grill mounts. I know alot of people have added 20" light bars and would think you could use those mounts but place a peace of metal between then to mount the strobe.

i used whelen vertex's. the install wasnt that bad at all. as for the bae i never thought of that ill have to take a look

You mean like this? I screwed my grill lights into the black plastic that is behind the grill. It was a pain to get the grill apart to do so but it was worth it. I am like you, I wanted as much hidden as possible.

You mean like this? I screwed my grill lights into the black plastic that is behind the grill. It was a pain to get the grill apart to do so but it was worth it. I am like you, I wanted as much hidden as possible.

Thanks! I can get some after work or this weekend for you. Do you already have the grill lights you want to use? If not, this is my set up:

Interior light bar
Interior light stick (soon to be upgraded to Feniex Cobra 800)
4 - Feniex Cannon 120s (Fog light/Warning, Reverse light/Warning)
4 - Feniex Apollo F12s (Grill light, License Plate light)
2 - Feniex Cobra T3s (Tool Box light)

I had these before my full size axixtech lightbar. They are very bright and durable. Especially for the price. I had one in my back window , and when needed I put the one in front.

I'd suggest forgetting about strobes and go with LED's. Much brighter and an easier installation. Here's a video of my setup on my patrol vehicle. They are all Whelen lights.

If I may recommend cheap but very effective strobes.. Honestly, Autozone sells a brand called "Prostrobe" they are very very bright, they are not cheap tho but you can *** with them in the ricer isle and figure out wich ones you want. I have the spitfire 4's in my rear window behind the factory tint and they still reflect off signs over 50 feet away on a bright sunny day.

For some reason mine are not on their site, there are also a few other versions I have seen at stores that are no on their site. AZ can be expensive try Amazon or eBay.. Just got the Hercules dash light on ebay for 30 bucks, it was 70 at AZ..

Another place you may think of throwing some are on the under side of the mirror. They make little half dome strobes that would look pretty clean installed under there and would help for extra side visibility.

My buddy owns an upfitting company. SoundOff makes the lights your talking about they are called "Intersector" strobes:

If I may add, they are anything but cheap. But provide 180* of light. And they are bright af...

those are ment to be mounted inside a light, not surface mounted. I guess you could but they work best inside a reflective housing as the light scaters.

Take a look at feniex products too; they seem to be a pretty decent brand from what I've seen...

You can also try going to elightbars.org; it's a forum for emergency warning equipment and they can probably help you get exactly what you need.

Technically anything besides 1 rotating beam light that is visible from 360 Degrees is illegal in PA. You can't have LED. You can't have Strobe. It has to be halogen.

I refuse to put a light bar on the roof of my truck - it just isn't going to happen. With how advanced LEDs have come, they are providing better light output than halogen. I meet the requirement of 360 Degree visibility, just not from one single light. With the amount of times I have been on scene of an incident with my personal vehicle - especially the amount of vehicle accidents I come across on I-70, I feel safer with my current set up than I would with 1 single rotating beam such as a tear drop. My thoughts are that if you are not being an idiot with your lights activated (such as using excessive speed, failure to abide by traffic control devices, using them when not responding to an emergency...), I don't think you will have any issues.

I understand the concern with "looking like an unmarked police vehicle" but in the state of PA, blue signifies firefighter/emt which is nothing more than a courtesy light. This does not give you the right away, motorists do not have to yield to you, nor are you permitted to proceed through red lights/not stop at stop signs. Red is fire chief/fire apparatus/ems which you must give right away for. Red/Blue is police. I know that PSP is cracking down hard because people have abused this system but I will take my chances. If a trooper stops me and directs me to remove my lighting, I will comply. But until then, I don't see how I am hurting anything.

Wow those laws are dumb lol. In MA ANY blue light is Police, red is fire/ems. you cannot run blue lights on your POV UNLESS you are a cop and your on a detail or something. Most decked out volunteer in my town have Red/White. and you MOVE out of their way or there will be hell to pay if a cop sees you. Basicaly these people are saving some ones life get the hell out of their way. and our police cars are 100% blue now, maybe one red light, but its simple here. Blue is cops, Red is EMS and all are permitted to respond code 2, or 3 - even POV.

My strobes are Amber and white as I am not affiliated with anything. I just like to have them in case of roadside emergencies or bad snow storms but its not illegal to have them. It is illegal to have red or blue flashing lights in this state if you dont have a permit even if they are not lit, owning them and mounting them is 100% illegal.

your truck to me looks like an undercover cop car, you would move traffic like a boss in my state with that set up haha

Here in NY it's the complete opposite. Volly POV FD gets Blue, Volly EMT POV gets Green, and "official" emergency vehicles such as Fire/EMS District Owned Vehicles and other municipal public safety get Red. No sirens for Volly POV...unless you get permission (usually found upstate), then you get Red for your POV.
