You are trying to remove the carrier center pin/shaft for the spider gears?

Bud that's not a roll pin, that is a pin bolt threaded in. I take the head is gone off it? They make a extraction kit for just this problem I will try and find the tool and post the link to it.

Gotta photo of it by chance just to make sure we are on the right track.

For more info was it a roll pin? was this on a lsd carrier.

Ring gear bolts are left hand thread to remove them, (backwards to the norm).

So when I have installed 4.56 in some cases you will need to cut a small part of the gear tooth right at the heel. Why? In some cases you can't get the center shaft back in, there is a tooth in the way. Orientate the ring gear on the carrier, mark it so you have alignment marks, next mark the tooth that needs to be cut and do so with a high speed cut off disc. CAREFULLY that is.

Edit: So test this before you tq the ring gear on the carrier, you are using new bolts as well right? They do ask you to use new ones if you did not know.

Picture of old roll pin from Dana 70 carrier. Dont understand why its so thick, new roll pin from dodge dealer is much thinner.

That's badass! I felt super accomplished after doing 4.56's in my 9.25.
We won't discuss how it all went south and had to be redone. :jester:

I would like to swap my truck up to 4.56s for sure.

Hopefully I can get some pics up soon, but I would really hope mine doesn't go south seeing as literally everything that touches the axles is new lol truck handles 37s soo much nicer though and definately stops much better with the bigger brakes.

There was a nasty burr on the pinion (I guess?) that held enough torque to allow me to torque it to spec, crush the sleeve etc. Which of course didn't have **** for pinion pre-load, ate the bearings in about 100 miles.

I gave up and took it to a shop.

I'll likely have them do my 4.56s and ARBs when I get there.
Not that I have ANY need for em. Just on my 'wants' list.

Wow that's some serious bad luck.. Hopefully changing the oil in about 100 miles will clear out any metal shavings or other **** in the dif so that doesn't happen to me! I definately regret keeping open difs so it sucks knowing I'll have to do a lot of the work over again for lockers..
