Well, my truck is starting to **** me really off!
After i fighted with
a) a broken wheel speed sensor (replaced and is now working)
b) O2 Heater elemet errors (probably ghost error because of Wheel Speed Sensor failure)
Now i have another problem and my truck is stuck 50 mils away in the boat yard.
In the last days 4x4 was not working probably because the ABS Wheel Speed Sensor problem.
After i changed the Wheel Speed Sensor everything seemed to work fine until i wanted to insert 4 Low to drive thru a muddy place in the shipyard where my boat is stored.
4 Low light was blinking and blinking, but lower gear did not engaged so i passed without 4x4.
Next day i had some time to test 4x4 and could activate 4 Auto and 4 Lock but not 4 Low. I tried for a half hour to drive backwards and forwards, engine on, engine off, gear lever in neutral, position in D driving slowly slowly, etc.
Then i noticed that the Neutral switch below the 4xe rotary knob is not working.
On the end i heard a noticable klonk and the 4 Low engaged, so far so good.
BUT, now the 4Low is not disengaging anymore doing the same manouvers as above.
There is also a strange thing as is seems that the rotary knob is dead...
The 4 Low light on the instrument cluster is always on end even if i rotate the knob in another position the 4Low light keep stay on and no other 4 Lock or 4 Auto light is blinking to show that the transfer case motor is trying to change transfer gear.
On the end i pulled the Transfer Case Motor to see if i can turn it manually to disengage 4x4 to be able to drive home.
The small pin/axel can be turned in both directions and seems to have a spring to return the pin/axle to a position and i could not turn it enough with a plyer get it to shift.
As it was becoming dark i left it and had a friend coming to pick me up.
What i would like to know is:
what direction i have to turn the pin/axle to go back to 2WD so that i can use the truck again
why the various 4x4 lamps on the dash are not blinking anymore
No, Service 4x4 is not on, it was on during the Wheel Speed sensor failure
Yes, ESP Stability Control lamp is on
No, ESP Stability Control OFF lamp is not on
Yes, Neutral button below 4x4 rotary knob is still not working
Thanks so much
Chris
