Stuck in 4x4

So today I was switching car from 4 low to 2wd. By accident I switched it to drive from neutral during the switch. Now the truck won’t go back into 2wd. I was able to get it into 4x4 high. But now won’t go back into 2wd.

If I hit the button it just flashes then eventually the screen says transfer failed.

It drives in 4x4 but if I put it in reverse sometimes i hear like plastic clicking.

I am think the transfer case motor may have failed? What are your thoughts? I am going to swap it out tomorrow before bringing it to the dealer. There is no warranty left on the truck.

Have you tried 4 high to 2 high while at a rolling spead?

Un hook battery for a while re connect normally fixes 4x4 issues clean terminals while your there lol.

I’ve read it acts as a reset for the ecm. Haven’t tried it myself, haven’t had the need, but easy and might fix the glitch.

Honestly its almost never the tcase motor all makes have this issue with this setup its always something stupid hope the battery reset works for you I miss my 04 ram with the lever none of this electric controlled **** lol.

Disconnected the positive terminal overnight. Still nothing. Hit 2wd flashes for 30 seconds. No change dash lights up , shift failed try again

Grabbing transfer case motor at 930

So new motor is here. The case is stuck in 4wd the new motor is in 2wd position . Won’t allow you to mount it with the way the key way is.

I tried hooking it up and sending signal to new motor to spin to 4wd and it won’t.

Looks like it’s going to dealer

I'm guessing that the plastic shift lever inside the transfer case may have broke, it broke on my previous 2010 1500. I was shifting from 2wd to 4wd right before going up a steep hill to my house in the middle of the winter and it got stuck in neutral. I'll never understand why they would use plastic parts in a system so critical on these trucks.

yep fiixing ... new bearing kit, new chain and seals, slapping it back together and thats it.

Just curious. What's the history on the truck, miles, etc? Not sure I've seen this failure mode reported.

I don't think I've ever put my 2019 classic in 4 low. I probably have a few 100 miles of 4 high use in the snow though w/ ~51K miles on the truck.
