I have a 2019 Ram Laramie Sport Package, It has a switch for TOW/HAUL. I understand you use this when you are towing or hauling. But what does it do to/for the truck? Does it change transmission calibrations? Work the cooling system more? I can't find info in the owners manual.
Thanks.

It changes the shift points on the trans so its not rapping and lugging when towing or hauling. Most of these newer vehicles shift to the highest gear possible for better fuel mileage but that is a detriment when towing.
Constant shifting of an automatic trans wears them out faster.

when in Tow Haul mode ... the trans shifts at higher RPM, the MDS is cut out, the Auto start stop is cut out, the Braking Assist help keep your truck around the same MPH when going down a steep grade ... i think that is all or at least all i have found so far .... i even switch on the Tow Haul mode without a trailer when going down some of the PA hills to help avoid riding the brakes alot

I could be wrong on this but I've heard that when doing alot of city driving, to hit the tow button. It will prolong transmission life by going to higher rpms before shifting. Since city driving requires alot of stop and go.

Basiclly, instead of the trans shifting 40 times from point A to B, with tow mode, it shifts 25 times. (Fake numbers, just getting the point across)

Is this a real thing or did I read an imaginative thread?

i guess you would be right about not shifting as much in tow haul mode, BUT the tow haul mode on also cuts out the MDS and the start stop and higher rpms mean more gas used
