Picked up truck from spray liner place and noticed adhesive on the side of the truck, youngster ran outside with alcohol and cloth to rectify the situation. Upon final inspection we discovered he actually rubbed hard enough to put scratches in the clear coat. :biggun:

People that have no consideration for other peoples property **** me off. That sucks the ass did that to your rig. But its good they are responsible enough to fix what they messed up.

A week after I bought my truck a yard maintenance douche threw a rock into the side of my truck. He looked right at me as he did it. If I couldnt have been arrested for assaulting a government employee I would have killed him.

Despite a lousy economy, most business are struggling to find good help--too many skulls full of mush raised on MTV and unreality shows like Real ***** of Jersey. :boxed:

Yea, this is far to often the case. And the shop owner has little control over the actions of his employees. Hell, for all he knew he was helping you out getting off some adhesive.

People in general are so impatient, applying force when totally unrequired, and using improper tools (a shop rag? on paint?!) just makes a huge mess. It'll buff out easy, don't worry.

I have to defend him slightly being I have a ton of young employees who work for me, I would tell him good job trying to fix the situation but that he should have asked about the proper way going about it. I know how it sucks being your property and all.

I got the feeling that part of his job was to detail vehicles when they were complete, when I mentioned it to him he hastly proceeded to clean it up prior to the boss man coming out. They say they use alcohol all the time since it dosen't hurt paint, so there must have been something else on the rag, or the type of rag, or a over zealous youngster.

I wholeheartedly agree that this younger generation is 'special' . Had a $500 Pioneer in-dash receiver stolen out my car right in front of my house. I am 90% sure it's some stupid young high school kids

Hello guys & girls

I must remind you we were all young once!!

If any one to blame it is the owner of the shop who did the bed liner.

It is his and his only responsibility for what happens in his shop with his employees working for him period!!

If he has not trained his employees properly and it cost him money and perhaps his reputation his business his problem!!

You never never touch or rub a dry dirty car or it will be scratched I don't care who you are.

The area that had over spray should have been wet to loosen the surrounding dirt before any contact was made with whatever cleaner was used.

As some else said maybe the young guy picked up a rag with thinner on it or something else.

Which leads to the question why did he not get a clean new rag to attempt cleaning on the paint of the customers truck?

I was fortunate when I chose my first trade machinist/tool maker as a sophomore in high school I had people willing to teach me and pass along some of their skills if I was willing to listen and work hard.

Unfortunate I also ran into complete A-HOLES who were scared to share their knowledge with younger guys, I think they were scared of loosing their status as KING of the shop or something.

The only question that is a stupid question is one that is never asked!!!

Regards
Don

Sometimes there is a fine line between initiative and jumping into a task, full well knowing that you don't have the skills to successfully complete the task, and just hoping for a good outcome. I agree--ask questions, watch someone else that has the skills and knowledge, ask more questions, watch some more, try it under supervision, then ask more questions. It's a time consuming process but your more likely to be successful. We all wonder sometimes why we don't have time to do things right the first time but we always have time to do it right the second time. I hate to admit it, but kids aren't the only ones that do stupid **** LOL

the problem i got is with little kids, both my neighbors have 3 and 4 years olds who love to play with my jack russell shorty, i mean yes my dog loves kids but they weave in and out between my ram and my girlfriends avalanche which has alot of visual upgrades done. so we bes holding our breath when we are eating dinner and see the kids out running around the vehicles with their scooters and bikes... i told the father and the kids that i have no problem with them seing the dog just stop driveing around over here on there bikes and scooters, but noone listens..... i keep getting mystery dings and scratches i have to buff out....

thats not an issue with the kids, thats an issue with the parents. parents dont like to say no to their kids anymore. i see alot of parents these days letting their kids do whatever they want without saying boo to them.
