radio removal instructions

This is the link to the instructions from the metra dash kit for your truck. This will tell you how to remove it.
The LOC gets tapped into you rear speaker leads. On the pack version the solid color (gray and white) wires go to the positives, the gray/black, white/black go to the respective negatives. I do not know the wire colors off hand but someone will chime in I am sure. the brown wires can go to ground but are typically unnecessary. Then plug in your RCAs, however you plug them in does not matter. Run your RCAs down the opposite side of the truck as your power wire. Not doing this CAN cause an awful high pitched wine.
Tap into your cig lighter, the one with the key on it, for you remote turn on, as these trucks use a data turn on and do not have a turn on wire behind the radio. Use a digital multi-meter to determine which is postive and which is negative. you want the positive wire. It will be the one that goes into the of the cig socket, not the outer wall.
As for tapping into wires, you need to strip a section of wire (not cut but just the shielding stripped back) (1/2 inch) Then you best option is to use a pick tool, poke a hole through the stripped wire, poke the wire of the LOC and remote wire through and solder it. If you do not know how to solder, you can stip back enough wire of the LOC and Remote to poke it through the whole, wrap it 3 times and tape it. I definitely recommend using solder but the tape method will work. After all of your connections are made and taped, gently fold the wires over on themselves and zip tie them as strain relief.
Power wire to the battery, put the fuse near the battery, not the amp. There is a large grommet on the drivers side that should be easy enough to get through.
Ground wire to bare metal somewhere. often times a seat bolt will work but you can probably pull back the carpet, remove some paint, and screw into something.
For the subs and the amp you will need to post model numbers. Wiring the subs will be determined by the number of voice coils, the impedance of the voice coils, and your amp. (2 channel vs mono vs 4 channel and at what impedance the amp can be run at on the respective channels.)
This is a fairly general install guide but should at least give you enough information to allow you to research more specifics if necessary. I am sure others will chime in to help as well.
You can also PM me with any other questions, however it may take me a while to get back with you. I work for the Rail Road and I am on call 24/7/365 with very little time off between shifts.
