Was all set on getting a Bilstein leveling kit with 33 inch toyo a/t tires. Now thinking about just saving a little more and get a 4 inch suspension lift with 35 inch tires. Does anybody know how much the price is in difference. Will be on the hard boiled road 80% and offroad 20% of the time. Really like the look of both but for the money is it just better to go a little higher? Any info you guys could share would be great. the vehicle is a 2011 ram 1500 4x4 big horn with 20 inch wheels. Also will be having it installed. I'm not so concerned with the wheel and tire combo just yet just want to get a good lift on and some tires that will get me through the winter out here in colorado.

I'll do my best and try to give you some info. There is definitely a difference in price, 4" lift prob range about $1200 plus for like a rcx lift. You might be able to get it few bucks cheaper with some of the site members. Now you need to pay someone to install it if you aint doing it yourself. The leveling kits, spacers, bilsteins etc are a few hundred bucks and you probably can install yourself or with some help from a friend. From my understanding With both types of lifts you will be able to fit 35" tires, It all depends how much you wanna spend. I personally chose to save my money and go with the 4" lift because I have a 4x4 and want to keep the angles on my axles as straight as possible and I like look of it.I had a 4by Tacoma prior to my dodge with bilsteins and had somewhat of a vibration due to the angles on my axles. You can always try leveling it out with bilsteins and if your not happy with it you can always purchase a 4 or 6 inch lift and reuse those Billy's. hope this helps

I personally think it'd be a waste to do a level and 33" at tires considering that's what comes on it stock. I'd at least bump up to a 34.1 or something.

I think ultimely I will just put a leveling kit on but what i dont understand is why can't u run 35 inch tires on stock 20 inch wheels. A shop told me it has something to do with the rams. Anybody know why

You can run a 35" but just not 12.5 wide it will hit the upper control arm. Its not a ram thing, its a clearance thing. You can just as easily buy some 1/4" spacers and run a 35x12.5. I wouldn't take my truck back to that shop if they couldn't even tell you that.

I ran a level, 3" body lift, and 35x12.5 on factory rims with a 1/4" spacer for a few months with no I'll effect.

I'm running 35x12.5 on 17's with a level and 1 inch spacers (because of the aftermarket rim offset)

Was on you body lift thread and was mind blown after seeing your SIG with +20mm offset and 12.5 wide.

Hahaha yeah. Bought from dealer with these rims and 33's with the 1 inch spacers front and rear. I installed level and 35x12.5

From my understand and remember I haven't done this my self its just what ive read but a leveling kit just raises the front and not the whole truck but the lift will do that. You will also get more ground clearance with bigger tires. Im in the same boat you are but I was looking at the bilstein 5100 w/ a 1.25 body lift w/ 35s or the 4" Rough Country lift and 35's. More or likely im going with the 4" lift because overall it will be better when I do take her off road.
