I have a 2018 1500 55K. I've noticed we traveling with a loaded truck(maybe 200lbs??) it sways pretty well on the highway. What could be the cause? Or is the answer in the title?

Depends on your tires and how you distribute the weight. I’ve had a few hundred pounds in my truck bed with no issues. Could also be due to bad sway bar bushings or bad shocks.

If you have the stock RSA tires they are car tires with a weak sidewall.

Stock sway bar, upgrade to a helwig and don't look back.

Stock rear shocks, upgrade to fox 2.0/Bilstien 5100 and good to go

I'm thinking of doing some shock upgrades, but only for towing reasons and not offroading. Aren't those you listed mainly for offroading, or can you put them on a stock bighorn and also improve your towing?

And if I do rears, is there still a noticable increase if you do fronts as well (again, towing only)?

The stock HD shocks are actually a pretty good shock - at least the ones that came on my Outdoorsman are - and this truck has always rode a bit harsher than my brothers Big Horn did.

Towing the boat is probably much different that a TT but I don't even notice it back there most of the time.

"stock HD shocks", do you have a 2500? I'm in a 1500.

If it's body roll, then a Hellweg. If its the back end side to side then stiffer tires.

I dont know if 200lbs would even be noticed in my truck…As others have said, better shocks, tires and then look at the Hellwig. I have hardly any sway for example. It corners like no other truck Ive owned even mildly lifted.

What tire pressures are you running.Cheapest and easiest thing to try is upping your tire pressures.If that doesn't help,then you're going to have to start spending money.

"stock HD shocks", do you have a 2500? I'm in a 1500.

I also have a 1500. 2016 Outdoorsman

I had 1211 springs on for quite a while but the current setup is
Stock HD rear shocks.
stock Outdoorsman rear springs (I don't know if they are anything different though).
Longhorn 20X9 wheels with stock size 265/60/20 XL tires set at 40 psi.
Firestone in spring air bags set at 5-7 psi.
Hellwig bar on middle hole.

No side to side, no sway and handles great even with the boat on it (about 4000 lbs plus full load in bed)
Washboard dirts roads are still a bit harsh though.

The biggest jump in handling for me was going from the 17" stock wheels to the 20X9 wheels with stock size XL tires - that was a much bigger change than going to the Hellwig (set on middle hole) for my truck.
The hellwig helped but not a big change for me.

OP doesn't mention it but there's a chance they are running the factory tires still, which would be due for replacement and probably be pretty squishy.

I spent years with this issue and finally just purchased the hellwig sway bar and installed it in the middle setting. I have a Rebel with air ride and my popup camper and a full bed caused a lot of sway. I now have Fox shocks (softer than stock) and the hellwig and it rides smoother with no sway.

Thuren's rear trackbar is suppose to work wonders.

You can disconnect one side quickly offroad to increase articulation too. Thuren's trackbar is supposed to work wonders also.

Same issue with my 16 big horn quad cab 4x4 and Goodyear tires. Aired up to 42 psi and no more sway. Of course wore them out in 20000 miles at that pressure.

I wouldn't think 200Lbs would make a difference either, not sure if it coincidence but this "problem" seem to start when I got new tires from Discount Tire

200lbs "loaded", I use the word loaded loosely.
