The tailgate cap, does it replace the stock one? I don’t like the plastic one and want an all metal one.

The tailgate top is completely different on the 2009 & newer Rams

I did not remove the plastic cap off of the 4th Gen Rams Tailgate

I would have to think that the top of the tailgate is mostly Flat & the Plastic Cap is the only thing with a curvature & is for looks only, just so they can refer to it as a Spoiler.
To many owners, it is just a water catcher, waiting for some unsuspecting person to open it

I would think if the cap was removed, it would look like the bedrails under the plastic caps, including the lip on the outside edge

I think that when he said that he ws going to one made for him,
He meant to have a steel piece made for the top of the Rams tailgate.
That plastic "spoiler" is just a water catcher, just sitting there waiting for you to open the tailgate when you are wearing good clothes

it also gets torn up and the clips break when you need to remove it for a dent repair... not that i would know anything about that....

Yep 1st Air Cav, 66-67 Vietnam. were you with the Cav?

No suh, not quite that old. I was in the peacetime Military, entered in 1976. One of my best friends was in 1st ID and also worked with the Americal Division, his first tour 11B, second tour: ******. He got some real OMG stories for sure. He retired in like 91, he is one of the best rifle shooters I have ever shot against, and no matter how hard I try, I cannot outshoot him, LOL.

My advise is don't even try to out shoot him. my tour worked with the 1st ID, 101st airborne, an company level combat intelligence. they begged me to re-enlist, but hell no. spent 18 months in Germany, came home and the rest is history.

3rd cav for me. when they were stationed at ft. carson 02-06 and not hood where the acting base commander, regimental commander, and command sgt major created a ****** up toxic command climate which caused the death of that specialist.
