Tailgate light bar install help!

I’m installing OPT7 3 row light bar into my 22 5th Gen 1500..
I spliced into the harness for the reverse light to work but the light just stays on all the time when it should only illuminate when truck is in reverse. Idk what I’m doing wrong plz help

You have obviously spliced into the hot wire leading to your 4/7-pin connector.

Do yourself a big favor, buy the CURT 56584 harness. This will run your tailgate bar from the 7-pin plug and provides a 5-flat which has reverse. This makes most tailgate light bars Plug-n-Play. You'll need a bullet connector for the reverse lead.
