Tailgate Lock

Hi all,
New here to the forum and looking forward to everyone's input and contributing where I can.

I have a 2014 Ram 1500 Tradesman and would like to upgrade the tailgate to make it lock and unlock via the keyless entry. It looks like it might be kind of set up as there is access and such. I have also found what looks like some sort of extra piece to clip into the wiring harness that was included with the truck new. Dont have any pics of this at the moment, but will try getting some.

Just wondering if anyone has done this, what is needed to make it work and how hard the process is. One of the reasons for doing this is because in the future I hope to be getting a camper topper with auto locking rear glass

I went the opposite way and unplugged mine, hated it locking all the time..lol
It would work better if it had its own button and did not lock/unlock the doors and the gate at the same time.


Sure if you get the right parts its doable.

I am half way through the install the instillation in the tail gate is a breeze , running the wires from the tail to the nose well not so much a breeze if you do not have a lift or a creeper that said it looks like no issue either
