Tailgate weight

16 1500 tailgate is heavy to open and close. Takes both arms to close like it weights 200 pounds. A friend has a 19 his closes with easy one arm. Am I missing something?

Check the lower corners at both sides of the tailgate, where it attaches to the bed. If the pivots are rusty and/or full of dirt and grime that could make it hard for them to move. If really nasty looking I would suggest just pulling the tailgate off so you could clean up the pivots on the gate and the pockets on the bed much easier. It's really simple to pull the gate off and is easily handled by two people.
