Hey guys! I have a 2015 1500 Tradesman 5.7 V8. I installed new non-auto fold towing mirrors that have signals and running lights. I have got to the step where I tap into the wiring harness on the passenger side with the wire from the drivers side. The video and instructions don't give much info for figuring out which is the right wire to tap into. The video shows him tapping the top rightmost wire behind the molex (the wire in that position for me is blue. Can anyone help me find a diagram or have a good method to find out for myself without joining a sketchy subscription site to have access to diagrams? Please ask any questions you want, I'm a total newb and I'm not even sure that I explained what I'm doing in an understandable manner.

(edit: I'm using the boost auto wiring harness)

Thanks all! :)

If you can find the mopar clearance light kit instructions online, the instructions show which wire to tap into for running lights at the tipm for every year model. That’s what I’d do. For the turn signal power, enabling the turn signal functions in Alfaobd is the best way, or if you really don’t want to pay for alfa you could figure out another way to tap into it, probably have to use a relay.

Thanks! That is a good resource I’m keeping for sure, it didn’t help me though. Here are some pics, just need to know which wire and I can be done with this. Or at least start finding out where I screwed up.image.jpg

Do you have a test light? That's the foolproof, easiest way. You could even make one with a 12V bulb and a couple of alligator clip test leads.

I could easily get one, but have no idea how to use it. I've seen videos on it but they're pretty vague and just give the general use, not anything specific to a RAM

Easy, Test the light first, clip one end to the negative batt terminal, with the other end, touch the positive terminal, make sure it lights. Find a good ground for the light, one of the dash bolts works fine, with the truck off, probe the wires one at a time to see if any are hot, (the bulb lights up). Turn on the parking lights and probe the wires again. The one that lights the bulb with the lights on is the one you want.

Ok - let's back up just a bit. Did your old mirrors have the lights? Hooking up the wire kit will only allow the lights in the top corner of the mirrors to turn on with the parking lights. It won't do anything for the turn signals.

If your old mirrors did not have the lights, there's more you're going to need to do for the turn signals to work.

As mrack stated above, you need to turn on the turn signals in the body control module. There's an app called AlfaOBD that lets you modify\change the computer, basically changing how it was configured at the factory. That's the best way to do it.

Suggest you start in this thread to get familiar with the app, it is an awful lot of info, but well worth the time to read through it.

If i am not mistaken:

A Tradesman has crank windows, maybe the Express does also

Every other Ram has power windows
The mirrors have Power Tilt

unless you are going to install DIY switches

You need 2 Door Modules & 2 switches mounted on each door Arm Rest

switches

modules

Look at the picture of the Open Door .
Look just above the door Speaker
Directly above the speaker, there is a Black Box with a piece of paper with an R printed on it

That is the Door Module

Door Modules control, things like :

Power Door Locks
Power Window Controls
Power Tilt Controls for the outside mirrors

It would also control the Courtesy Lights, Signal Lights & Power Fold.

That being said, to have any of those things
You would need the Power Door Switches & the Correct Door Modules for each door, ( they made a couple of different door Modules.

Then you may need to Program the more advanced Door Modules

I do not know if you can DIY with wiring & switches

BUT, check for Power at the Door Modules with some kind of power probe

for right front door

for left front door

1728598775382.png

do NOT use the Numbers on the modules
I did not check for the Year or Trim Level, ie Big Horn, Laramie, etc.

Master door switch

Good Luck

You don’t need any modules or switches. Just enable turn signals in Alfaobd, or if you’ve got way more time then money, tap into turn signals and run wires to mirrors. 4th gens all have power windows.
