Cut me a little slack boys, still learning. I had a local mech shop install cat back dual exhaust straight out the back w magnaflo muffler. It was done with standard pipe....not an expensive rig. Did this address the factory Y ? If not what is my best route to fix this ? The magnaflow is a 22" large body which gives it slight rumble but not loud. Not too worried about that as it serves as my sales vehicle for my biz. Don't wanna be ******* off neighbors and possible killing referral deals. I wouldn't mind a bit more rumble though. Maybe drop to 18" muffler. What is the most economical way to solve the factory Y issue ??

Cat back system is basically everything from the outlet of the cat and back. So no, they didnt touch they y pipe, which is right before the cat. You can buy the magnaflow y pipes for cheap and I believe most people say shops will install them for $100 or less.

Is the cost to eliminate the factory y worth the cost ? Or is it just money spent to have it on the list of mods ? Noticeable difference after removing ??

Honestly I havent done it yet, so I cant tell you from experience. But Ive heard from a lot of people that have replaced it with an aftermarket one say it really improves the throttle response. Its something Ive been meaning to do for a while now though...

I could be wrong on your rig but on most Rams the "Y" you are referring to is after the cats. They come together in a 3 inch pipe then split again into 2 pipes that are each 2.25 inch. This being said they likely did nothing with the Y because it is a pain. The Y is near a large cross member of the frame and to switch it out you have weld in new Y after the member or remove the exhaust from manifolds and the push it back up there which would be a ton of work. Big problem with doing after market work is they almost never use stainless pipe meaning by messing with it you are creating a week point. This is main reason I have yet to do mine yet. Nate can chime in he said it helps.
