it is a 2.75" outlet from the Y though

Alrighty.

Anyway, if your curious, and, if this is anywhere close to accurate, this is the calculator I use to determine pipe diameter for exhaust. http://www.mk5cortinaestate.co.uk/calculator5.php

You can input pipe diameter and number of pipes to get the HP it's good for, or the HP and number of pipes to get the diameter you need. I'm wild guessing you're around 400HP with a tune and headers, so, technically, your main pipes [including the header collector] are too big, while your Y collector pipe is too small.

Yes, it's very noobish to do it this way, but I don't have any experience building exhaust or racing engines, so it's the best I've got to go by. Do what you will. It doesn't seem like you're going to or are willing to change your pipe diameter, so anything more I say on the subject is kinda moot.

However, if you find the no-muffler route isn't enough [even if only after some time] then all I could consider more besides fine-tuning piping diameter would be to make true duals that go "collector extension, cutout, cats, pipes, mufflers, pipes" to have a quiet mode and a 'literally as loud as it could be' mode.

Or just add cutouts before your cats for loud mode and only keep the cats and pipes for emissions testing. Or you could add a quieter muffler at the end for quiet mode without going true duals and all.

****, I'm doing it again. I'll shut up now. Damn hamster wheel is just too easy to turn.... :/

lol! well doing custom headers and custom piping regardless of opinion on whats better is out of the question for a grocery getter haha this aint no race truck. Spending $ on my exhaust is totally done, the 10 dollar turn down is as far as im going with it.

lol, i dig your researching stuff though man :cheers:

to be completely honest the power gains from this exhaust setup BLEW me away. i fully expected a little bit of noticeable difference and of course sound but, damn the power increase was incredible way down low. The truck legit wants to pull hard right off a stop like 1300rpm. Of course its that way all across the curve but most shocking and noticeable was that immediate down low pull

you go mild then you will want more, just go big the first time, remember my blue truck went into the paint booth a slightly modded truck with the plans of just colormatching a new front clip and a 2" drop added to what i had, and you see what happened

OORRR, cam, stall, AND gears! :naughty:

{{At it again}}

http://www.boosttown.com/gearbox_differential/speed_calculator.php

Using this and the closest metric size to your tires [318/60r20] along with the RFE trans ratios, 4.56's should put you at a ~68MPH cruise doing 2k RPMs in 5th gear. Not too bad, eh?

Add a mild cam, probably a comp 260 or the like since 'it ain't no race truck needin custom ****', and a ~2700 stall-ish converter, and THEN you'll be KOOKing for REAL, haha. Think it's peppy now? Well dayum.

{{PS, does adding a cam count as a 'step up' for Hemifever's tuning tiers?}}

lol. No crazy cams man this is a daily driver truck that needs to last me a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG ass time, 100% IF i do get a cam, it will be mild. The power of my truck is 100% perfect to me, dont need or desire any more power its perfect. The little bit of sweet sound and idle is what draws me, and i dig the mild cam sound like 260's

*buzzer sound* wrong. *I* just perused the site. Stage 2 is cam, stroker, and heads. You need stage 3 for forced induction. And Nitrous tuning is entirely separate, as is trans tuning.

[emoji14]

Also, I cam get an i3 with stage 1 included (as you said) for $490 plus tax, or, they're having a sale for the Trinity 2 currently at $630 plus tax.

To be frank, I hope that sale lasts a bit longer...

268 requires tuning to even start afaik. If you do that, might as well get a "better" cam like the spartan, right? Or downgrade to a 260.

Besides, I've seen it said time and time again that a qc, especially a 4x4 needs a more torquey cam. Lol. And, in just now researching cams again, one post said "the hhp260 is not noticed in a smog state, and works with stock heads and valve springs while shifting at 6k or less"

So, uhh, guess that's your solution unless you wanna drop gears and stall money on valve train and such?
