not even an hour ago while driving steady at only 30mph it started missing on cylinder 1, shut the truck down for a bit.

when i started it back up lots of steam out of the exhaust,,, great, pulled the #1 plug, started the engine and yup, lots of water and antifreeze went everywhere. also bubbles in the reservoir when you rev

no water in oil,,, yet

anyway what year 4.7s and from what would directly swap into my 2003 ram 1500 qc

You have to go by your vin number in order for one to marry up to everything like your computer.I believe 03-05 will work but not totally sure but going by you trucks vin number is going to help you with the right engine. If you know how to work on stuff i would replace the head gasket and have the head looked at.

i know how, but i also know its less work and usually less money to just replace the entire motor. either way i doubt the driver side head would be any fun to work on with the motor in the truck

i just know this motor was also used in the Grand Cherokee and Dakota's as well, didnt know if they would swap over.

as for computer i was thinking i could swap all my engine electronics to the donor engine while both are out

so blue devil stopped any sign of a head gasket leak but a new issues has shown its ugly face.
cylinder 1 misfire even with new injector, plug, and coil. im betting its the infamous dropped rocker arm..

been a dodge fan all my life and never have i seen a bigger **** than both the 2.7 v6 and the 4.7 v8... total garbage

im going to fix it to get me by for now but i see a hemi or 5.9 gas swap in the very near future... leaning more twards the 5.9 for the simple fact its the more reliable option

after this 4.7 debacle followed right after my intrepid nightmare i may even just LS swap it.. really not pleased with dodge at the moment, seems they lost their way

I used blue devil in my 03 4.7 this past summer, misfire cylinder 5, still going but i never put a new thermostat it, i gutted my old thermostat to run the blue devil through it so it would still have a gasket on the thermostat housing. is yours holding up well to the pressure building up getting to normal operating temperature?

ive been dreading the summer time with no thermostat but worried if i replace the t stat, itll blow the BD out of where its stopping the leak.

Hows it working out for you?

was holding up great up until about 2 months ago, after that i have no idea but still see the guy i sold the truck to everymorning driving it and towing a cargo trailer to work every day. seems fine. (yes he knew about what was wrong) i have sence bought a 2000 grand cherokee with the much better and more reliable 4.0 I6. ill never own another anything with a 4.7.

Oh I've done some hauling too, smokes like hell but I keep it topped off with everything, otherwise it uses a quart a month usually, did ok in new Orleans traffic the other day and it sounds like a great motor. Just chatters when it's not warmed up and it' kinda ugly. I was thinking about rebuilding or getting another one to rebuild, don't really trust the 4 7. The 4.0 though, great engine. I got a 96 Cherokee country I've had 15 years that can' be killed. I've had this ram a year and change.

anyways I want to put the t stat back in but scared it'll build too much pressure and really pop my heads to ****.
