Found a limited that is 16k off msrp with all the options I would want. Wondering if anyone has gone from a 1500 to a 2500 how much harsher is the ride? Also anyone know payload on the gas megacab 4x4?

One of the reasons Im looking to upgrade is with two large dogs and traveling not much room for a baby seat in the back hence the megacab. Another reason would be the increased bed over the 5 foot 7 one plus payload doubled from what I can guess. Looked into the new 1500s but for less money can get the 2500 be it less technology but the payload is still lacking on those as well once you figure the dogs, wife and kid plus everything that goes along with puts us close to max payload now on current truck which takes all possibilities of TT out down the road even on a new 1500 19 model.

Bad part is I finally have mine modded about to the point I dont really feel the need to do anything else to it...

So what do you all think?

The mega cab has the 6.5 bed. My 2015 Mega limited with the 6.4 gasser has 2450lbs payload. You’re correct, with a kids seat behind the driver and the other seat flat on the floor, it’s bigger than my wife’s suv inside. Tons of room for the dog and lots of cargo. The ride is a bit harsher than a 1500 for sure, but you get used to it and it feels right since the truck is just bigger and beefier.

Mega only comes in the 6 foot bed not the 8 footer definitely wouldnt want to be driving around in that big of a truck lol.

Yea I figured slightly harsher being payload will be 1300 pounds more but still being a coil I figured it would be smoother than my 14 F250 was.

Oh yeah... Definitely the nicest ride in an HD...those coils are nice. And there’s no issue with them being weak... I’ve had mine loaded to 10900 lbs (they’re 10000 gross) and was still 2” from the stops. Truck is a beast.

Buy it. You won't regret it. It's a "REAL" truck compared to a 1500. Had an '09 1500 5.7 w/ 3.92 gears. Now I have a '17 Tradesman 2500 CC LB w/ 6.4 & 4.10's. Will never go back to a 1500. 2500 will let you know you're not in a 1500, but it's nothing like the 3/4 ton trucks of old. Mine is a daily driver. I like a truck that feels "trucky", not like a car. You have to drive it to know. It's not a hell of a big difference.

Don't let the size ***** you either. You drive anything for a month, you know where it fits and where it doesn't. The chick in CVS goes,"you only missed the building by an inch". I saif, "I only have to miss it, I don't have to miss it by a LOT. :)
Great truck, git you one.

Yea not worried about the size used to have a f250 plus in my college years drove a crew cab 8 foot bed with a 28 foot trailer behind it with 3 mowers 6 days a week. Its more buying a new truck then explaining to the wife whyI need to spend 8k in upgrades lol.

Get the max care warranty - tell her you are keeping it forever, she will drive it and fall in love. My wife loved our mega cab except in crowded parking lots.

Nice truck! The ride is definitely stiffer but I wouldn't go back to my 1500. The 6.5' bed is enough reason to upgrade. I couldn't fit anything in my 5'7" bed.

I came out of a 2015 Silverado 1500 to my truck and I sure don't miss the 1500 one bit. With my family and tt it was maxed out. The 2500 handles the weight with confidence. The ride is much harsher but it's a real truck not a wannabe car with a bed on the back. I'm old school and prefer it that way. It rides like a truck is. Supposed to and not like a sedan Deville. I think you know you want one....so just do it! I have ZERO regrets

We traded in our 1500 Express CC for a 2500 CC 6.4 Laramie. Haven't regretted for a second (except maybe at the gas pump). The ride is harsher but, I don't mind it. Things that I used to do with the 1500 that caused me concern, I don't give a second thought to now. It is a different truck from the 1500. Don't expect it to ride like one.

I’ve had both a 13 1500 and now a 14 2500. They are totally different trucks. I have had older 3/4 ton trucks and it does not ride like them. I don’t think it’s rough or harsh. I like to call it “firm”. It’s not jarring but you can tell you’re in a truck that has some weight to it. The coils do make a difference and without giving up in any payload. These trucks handle some weight. I’ve hauled same tractor and trailer with my 1500 and it was pretty much on bump stops. In the 2500 she don’t even look like she’s loaded. I don’t pass up many gas stations. She loves them hahaha

I came from a 1500… I did order my truck with the off road package. I hear the Bilstein 4600's make the ride a tad softer over bumps than the Mopar shocks. I don’t find the ride to be harsh more so than a little stiff. To soften it up a bit over bad bumps just lower than tire pressure when empty or put on some tires with more side wall. But as others have said it feels right for the truck. And there isn’t much body roll. You don’t want an HD truck to feel like a crossover. The Rams ride better than the Fords and Chevys and will still handle weight like a beast. I’ve had north of 2000 pounds in mine and the truck was still low in the nose by a few mm's WITH a leveling kit and around an inch of rake. Put 2000+ pounds in a stock 1500 and you’d be practically on the bump stops. For how stiff these coils are the truck rides gooooood. And you are getting a lot of beef.

Yea I'm ok with it riding like a truck like I said I had a F250 with leafs in the rear and I'm sure that was way harsher of a ride and I didnt think it was that bad until you took a turn at 55+ and there was a huge imperfection the ass end would get a little crazy but I was used to it. Now lets see what they give me on a trade....

I've got a 1500 and 2500 (cummins). The 2500 is a beast, and for sure a more "truck" type of a ride.
