Anyone experience this after installing an aftermarket 3rd brake light. Used provided gasket and for added measure, windshield sealer. 24 hours after instsall noticed some condensation. Should i worry?716e4eb53f9f946fad2a11817a98036a.jpge74633c9f5a2e6738321b484f3ec03ac.jpg

Is there a plastic washer underneath the screw head?

Should seal the light housing with silicone.
Aftermarket lights are notorious for having bad seam sealing.

Housing? I put windshield silicone around the foam gasket it came with. Is that what you mean?

The actual seams on the housing. Where the outer lens joins the backing plate. Some clear silicone smeared with your finger.

The 3rd brake light is subject to a lot of water - everything that runs rearward from the roof. As someone mentions, the stock setup is notorious for leaking. When my truck was a few months old my light went out due to water filling up inside the lens and shorting out the bulb. I fixed it literally in minutes in the Home Depot parking lot with some rubber weather-stripping around the top and sides (left the bottom w/o to allow water to escape, if necessary). That was 6 years ago and all has been fine.

I'm not sure if your situation is the same but I personally would be hesitant to goop it up with silicone since if/when you have to take it apart you'll be fighting whatever "goop" you put on there. A (better) rubber gasket than what comes with the light is probably the best way to go. Not that the silicone won't work.

Been down that road. You are right. Im okay with goop for extra added piece if mind.

Lol.

Yup, I gave up in aftermarket lighting. More PIA and waste of money.

One of these days I’ll lightly tint my lights in the back and that will conclude my lighting mods lol

To the OP. Put the stock back on and return that light. Hate to say it but they’re junk.
