Not likely a major change due to gas prices...just because I've got a lot to do at home. Needing a new front porch and putting up a pole barn is going to take some time.

The memories made on vacation are worth more than any increase in fuel prices.

Absolutely no chance it will affect us. It already came back down some. Right now it is about .45 to 85. Cents more than last year. Most our trips are about 100 miles. Avg 10 mile to the gallon. So 10 gallon of gas...4.50 to 8.50 more than last year. Even on a 350 mile trip. 35 gallons...15 to 30 bucks more. I will cut something else before I cut camping.

I guess if you are making cross country trips it may be a concern...but if you ran your budget to where this rise in gas is an issue...you were not well informed about what camping was gonna cost.

Guess that is why I see people selling off their equipment. To me....that is a good thing.

We are still moving forward on another cross country trip. Florida to Mich UP then onto N Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, etc. Its going to cost a fortune at 9 mpg but I’m retired, 71 in great health but it’s not like tomorrow is promised. Last years 7,500 mile trip was too beautiful to not do it again. I’ll post my go fund me link soon

In Australia right now 98 RON (not the same rating as US as US fuel is rated in MON or AKI I think, so probably 93-94 there) is $2.30 a litre (probably $US1.70 a litre). E10 (10% Ethanol, 94 RON) is about $2.05 per litre. There is 4.4 litres in an imperial Gallon but I think there is only 3.785 litres in a US Gallon for some odd reason! Certainly made it hard to compare MPG back in the days when Australia used Imperial measurements (changed to metric in the early 70's)!

I'd still rather buy petrol (in Australia not called Gas as Gas is LPG here) than put up with diesel (which is currently also about $2.10 a litre). I know diesels are more economical but most of the diesel vehicles here have these tiny little sub 3.0L diesels in them with massive turbo boost to get a decent torque peak, but in reality they just get less reliable, and as soon as you put a trailer on the back they are so slow it isn't funny. To get a decent diesel vehicle in Australia I'd have to buy a Ram 2500 or a Silverado 2500 and they are about twice the price of the 2021 1500 Classic I just bought, not to mention the extra size means they wouldn't fit in my shed. We did have the 3.0L V6 diesel available for a short time in the 4th Gen Laramie 1500 but they hardly sold any as the engine is too small for that size vehicle plus the towing capacity was reduced by 1000kg. They dropped it after a short while.

The cost of fuel will be hurting some though. Lots of people bought caravans during the pandemic so they could travel Australia - the country is almost as big as the USA or Canada but only has about 27 million population so lots of places to explore. In reality is probably has more to explore all year round as none of it ever gets covered in snow and ice other than a few mountains. But with fuel prices up 50% I reckon it will mean a lot of caravans and tow vehicles might hit the market over the next 6 months.

I spent a week in Sydney. Very expensive. I do like your immigration laws and work requirements for foreigners. :)

I suppose it looks expensive to someone from the USA, but it also can look expensive back the other way when the exchange rate is not in our favour. It has been good a few times for me when it's about parity, right now its about $AUS1 = $US0.75.

just talking about this with her this morning. We had been planning our trips in the past few days. After her recent trip to the station, costing $71 in her little car, she is wondering how many trips with the TT should we take.

Just filled up:
Propane - 3.10/gal excluding tax

Midgrade gas 4.97/gal - total paid 108.8 for 185 miles towing - 21.9 gal, 8.44 mpg.

There was a strong headwind. I usually get between 9-10mpg at 65 mph.

So do the math assuming 10mpg and $5/gal. Every 100 miles is $50; 1,000 miles $500 dollars. 1,000 miles is easy to do in the west.

I'll be going from AZ to CO, 800 miles or $400.
