I'm replacing a tie rod every year in my truck. (07 45k) This normal? I don't drive off road, just to work and home! Any suggestions or thoughts.

Definately something wrong in the geometry of your front end. Weather it be because of oversized tires or something else.

Its all Factory equipment. 20in factory rim. The only thing i changed was tire from a crapyear to hankook. But i had this issue w/ the Goodyear tires as well.

Were you the org owner? Odd for ya to go through that many, each time you get a new set is the shop aligning it?

yes oem ( i would assume) i didn't pay for anything better. The dealership said they don't make(sell) anything really any better unless you want to use a grease gun every 3k miles.

Yeah, get away from the OEM ones and get a set that is greasable...but still I think something else is wrong...weather it be a warped center link or something else...

^Agreed, only times I have heard of any issues really with the tie rods have been from the 2.5 levels.

I had tie rods done on mine last week-ish. 69k miles on the clock I am the first non commercial owner of the vehicle. I have 2wd with a 6 inch lift and venture off road when it is dry (2wd curse) and this was the first time ever done on my truck. BUt that is with some abuse. Doesn't make sense that you are going through them as often as I do oil changes.

and what's wrong with greasing a tie rod end the way it's been done for years? non-greasable components are simply a way for the manufacturer to sell you more of them, kinda like buying a disposable ligher rather than one you can refill.

My '04 got greasable tie rod ends in '05 and I've changed one out since, just this past fall and I've been running 35" tires since '05.

I take the extra 30 seconds per end to grease them every tire rotation (6k miles).

But I do agree with the consensus, even the crappy OEMs should be lasting you a lot longer than they are...
