Good to know, never knew there was an aftermarket option...RockAuto has a couple of options, Dorman and A1-Cardone advertised as remans, and they charge a core if you do not send yours back. I am assuming they are resoldering any bad connections and shipping them out, which is why I was wondering about the prom flash
I'm on my 4th tipm . I have a 2013 ram mega cab 4×4 bighorn...the dealership decided to bypass the relay and put a wiring harness in instead....so far so good...but damn. Come on dodge get your **** together!
WTF?? I thought this was more of a problem for the 2011 and older vehicles, not a 2013. How many miles on the truck? Which relay did they bypass?

That's insane! I would it can't hurt to ask what they think...First my air conditioning blower wasnt working. Replaced it all. Just to find out it was tipm...6 months later. Said my def heater module went out. Replaced that still didnt. Tipm went out again. Replaced it. Worked for over year. Then again air conditioning blower wasnt working...tipm bad so just bypassed relay with wiring harness. So far so good....thinking of contacting a lawyer thoughts??,
Yeah there is a guy that fixes TIPMs, only thing that sucks is you have to send it to him and in the meantime your truck is down.Not vehicle related but very similar - the control panel for our front loader washing machine is known to have similar issues for similar reasons: vibration and exposure to moisture.
Found a guy on Ebay that services the control panel by replacing the crappy onboard relays with better quality stuff, then re-flows all of the solders on the board.
While I dont like the idea of the TIPM because of the issues it can cause, its probably one of the more elegant ways of handling the large amount of circuits and connections going on in newer vehicles. it looks like there are people out there that will repair a TIPM just like our washing machine control panel....I can tell you after my washer was fixed, I have had zero issues with it in 7+ years.
I agree this shouldn't even be an issue until the vehicle reaches 200k+ miles. And even then they should make it a more modular design. That way the curcuit board containing the internal relays could be replaceable. Hell of a lot better than replacing the entire TIPM for a bad relay...Soldered relays take up a lot less room than sockets and standard relays. And technically soldered-on should be BETTER because there is one less connection point to worry about.
But, if you use crappy quality solder-on relays, you'll end up having to replace them sooner because of it.
Out of those 2 I would go GMC. Just keep in mind they all have their problems.I think it maybe time to look at the new GMC or ford
