tips before buying

hey all this is my first post here, im possibly going to trade my 97 Z28 for an 01 ram 4x4 its got almost 200k on it but the engine was rebuilt 60k ago trans @ 30k ago and a pro comp 4.5" lift a few months ago with 35" KM2's. im having to drive about 3 hours to look at this truck but what are some things that are problem areas with these i know the rear ends go bad and grind the housings i replaced several of those back in the day at the dealership. oh and i know about the vaccum line for the cruise is under the batt and get rotted out from acid

my other question is if i put a 2" body lift will i be able to fit 37"s later?

You can clear 35s with just a leveling kit so with that lift should be able to fit 37s, but will let someone more educated in that area help answer better.

tranny's are the weak spot, didn't hear much on the rears though.

Welcome to the site. Get as much info ya can from the owner far as the rest of the service records. Sounds like they hammered it pretty hard all the time to do that much to it.

idk about hammering on.... engines are only good till 200k anyways, the engine was rebuilt because his wife kept driving it after it got hot and ended up cracking a head or so the story is told that was around 130k he is the second owner

the trans im surrprized made it to 170k before taking a crap my parents went out at 100k my friends at 88k and another friends at 120k. maybe a trans cooler will help get it past 100k?

yea when i worked at the dealer almost every truck had the pin the holds the stock posi clutchs in place break and rub on the housing. also should i gear it since its got 35's? and how tall of a gear should i run? front and rear?
