Need some quick advice before the winter sets in here in central Saskatchewan. I desperately need new tires for my 2016 Ram Rebel w/3/7L engine. 95%+ of my driving is on the highways and the rest is on gravel roads as I live in a rural area. I also tow a small trailer of animal feed which weighs 2200lbs w/600lbs of additional feed in the bed and I do this 3-4 times a year. Where I get the feed is about 50 kilometres each way of gravel roads then on the highway.
Saying that, right now I have Toyo open country AT tires that came with the truck (LT285-70-17R) and they do horrible in winter conditions so I'm leaning towards getting 1 set of all weather of tires and 1 set of winter tires. For the all weathers I'm considering the Nokian Remedy WRG5s (265-70-17R) but I find mixed info on if these are a bad choice for the little bit of gravel roads I drive down. I also am considering the Nokian Outpost nAT but like I said I don't drive offroad. Some sources also say that P rated tires can't tow, P rated highway tires get destroyed on gravel etc etc. Reason why I'm considering Nokian tires is because they are actual decent tires on snow and ice and then when the season gets real bad, I will switch to Nokian Hakk 5s which perform really well in my climate.
Any advice? I keep finding articles that say I have to go LT tires, but from what I can tell the tires I am looking at can easily handle the combined weight of my vehicle (even using the 1.1 factor) with the load I am carrying and then some. I guess the real question is can P rated HT tires such as the Nokian Remedy WRG5 be ok for a bit of gravel roads. Oh yeah, I only drive about 3000km's a year so I will never see any warranty.
Thanks to any one that offers help.
